{{ARCHIVED}} Could a legendary computer and a rebellious OS shine a little light on the shadowy Transmeta? Out of the batcave called Transmeta, where wealthy playboys mix with programming superheroes, may come the final ingredients in the computer of the future: a networked unit geared for maximum multimedia performance, with a "next generation" superprocessor equipped with a software-programmable microchip. Would you expect anything less from Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and major Transmeta Corporation investor; Linus Torvalds, "father of Linux" and Transmeta's most famous employee; and the never-say-die true believers at Amiga? |
