  Exclusive Interview with Dave Haynie: “The Amiga was saved by the Community.”
  Author: RetroTech & Café   Verified: Oct 12, 2026   id: 6109
  When I began planning this article, I found myself wondering: why should I write an introduction for today’s guest? I honestly don’t think Dave Haynie needs one. At least not in the traditional sense. His name occupies a place of honor in Amiga history. Not only because of his extensive career as an engineer at Commodore, but also because of his charisma, his convictions, and the weight of his technical judgment in many of the architectural decisions that helped shape the future of one of the most influential computers ever created.

  ODFileSystem
  Author:   Verified: Oct 10, 2026   id: 6104
  A modern open-source Amiga CDFileSystem replacement with support for ISO 9660, Rock Ridge, Joliet, UDF, HFS, HFS+, High Sierra and CDDA virtual audio tracks. ODFileSystem is a read-only optical-disc filesystem driver for Amiga systems. It is implemented as an AmigaDOS handler frontend with clean backend plugins for the various optical-disc formats it supports, allowing it to mount and browse CD-ROM, DVD, Blu-ray, and image-based media. The project also includes host-side tools and tests so most parser and cache logic can be developed and validated outside an Amiga environment.

  A language that reads like C#, compiles to small native programs (LLVM, or its own 68000 backend for the Amiga) and manages memory with reference counting instead of a garbage collector.

  Where Were They Now?
  Author:   Verified: Oct 09, 2026   id: 6107
  Power Computing look like a pretty obscure company. How obscure? As far as I can tell, they only released three games Breathless (1995), The Big Red Adventure (1997), and Red Mars (1999). All three were released for the Amiga after Commodore had declared bankruptcy. Unless you know differently, there's not even a cover online for the Power Computing version of Red Mars That's all pretty darn obscure. Here's the Rod Serling-type twist, the company is still trading successfully today.

  Project Ceylon: What If the Amiga Never Died?
  Author:   Verified: Oct 09, 2026   id: 6102
  {thread at amigaworld.net discussing Project Ceylon. 'What If the Amiga Never Died? Project Ceylon is an independent attempt to build a plausible Answer, a modern x86-64 microkernel workstation that carries forward the Amiga’s emphasis on responsiveness, multimedia, specialized subsystems, and a coherent machine/OS design — without reproducing 1980s hardware.}
