Amiga And Commodore, Back Together (Sort Of)
Author: Jenny List   Verified: Aug 13, 2026   id: 2421
The story of Commodore, the famous manufacturer of home computers, is a murky one at best. Commodore fans will decry their woeful marketing and dismal product roadmap, while former employees such as our Hackaday colleague [Bil Herd] have shone a bit of light on the goings-on behind the scenes. The company’s final demise in the collapse of the German company Escom scattered its parts to the four winds, but now we find a potential return to clarity.

  Author: amiga.com   Verified: Aug 12, 2026   id: 2412
Amiga Corporation today announced two agreements concluded within a few weeks of one another. Amiga and Commodore International Corporation have entered into a licensing agreement recognizing their respective rights. Separately, a settlement with Hyperion Entertainment BV resolves a contractual dispute and replaces its 2009 agreement with Amiga. The agreements complement other rights and arrangements, some of which Amiga can now bring into active use.

{{ARCHIVED}} It hasn't been easy keeping a cheery disposition since April 29, 1994. Now, the liquidation chapter of Commodore's existance is all but closed. Barring an amazing development in the Bahamas Supreme Court, which has all but promised to echo the decision of the US court, Escom AG will become the owner of the assets of Commodore International.

Hyperion and Amiga reach settlement over AmigaOS rights and development
Author: Generationamiga   Verified: Aug 13, 2026   id: 2418
Hyperion Entertainment and Amiga Corporation have settled their ongoing legal disputes, bringing a long period of uncertainty to an end. The deal does more than stop the court battles. It also sets out who can develop and sell different versions of AmigaOS, what happens to the 68K branch after 2027, and how Hyperion can continue working on AmigaOS 4.x. That gives both companies a clearer path forward.

Hyperion Entertainment BV and Amiga Corporation reach settlement – all ongoing legal disputes ended
Author: Hyperion   Verified: Aug 12, 2026   id: 2414
Hyperion Entertainment BV and Amiga Corporation have, after several months of intense negotiations, reached a new settlement agreement that puts an end to the ongoing legal disputes between the parties. Timothy De Groote, Director of Hyperion Entertainment BV, says in a comment to the agreement: “We have had the clear goal from the very beginning of our ownership: to bring an end to the ongoing lawsuits that have, for far too long, drained energy and resources from the advancement of AmigaOS. We now look forward to completing the development of AmigaOS 3.3 and AmigaOS 4.2, so that the focus can return to the users and the operating system we all love. Let the fun begin!

Out-of-court settlement between Amiga and Hyperion is publicly available
  Author:   Verified: Aug 13, 2026   id: 2415
This morning, Amiga Corporation and Hyperion announced that they had signed an out-of-court settlement. The reason for this announcement was apparently that the signed agreement was made public today as part of a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in the United States. We reviewed the contract (PDF), which replaces Hyperion’s old agreement with Amiga Inc. from 2009, and attempted to briefly summarize the key points. It should be noted that we have limited ourselves to the main topics: the actual contract goes into considerably more detail and contains various additional provisions, most of them concerning Hyperion.
