(AO) The AIM Project - Amiga Indexes of Magazines
Author: Joachim Froholt   Archived: 2002-10-03   Verified: Aug 09, 2026   id: 1401
{{ARCHIVED}} The AIM Project (Amiga Indexes of Magazines) is here to provide an index of Amiga magazines so you'll know which magazine to find a specific review/preview/feature/etc in. This is especially helpful if you have a stack of old magazines and you need to find that elusive feature without reading through every one of your magazines in turn. The indexes are not supposed to be a database of information, just indexes, and as you'll see, we are still missing a lot of issues - can you help us with any of these? Hey, all of us have issues, right? :) ACE Magazine Index, Amiga Computing Index (plain), Amiga Computing Index (html, with tables), Amiga Computing missing issues, Amiga Force Index (plain), Amiga Format Games Index, Amiga Format Serious Index, Amiga Power Games Index, Amiga Power PD Index, Amiga User, International Index (plain), Amiga User International Index (html, with tables), Amiga User Int. missing issues, CU-Amiga Index (plain), CU-Amiga Index (html, with tables), CU-Amiga Missing issues, The One Amiga Index (plain), The One Amiga Index (html, with tables), The One Amiga missing issues and Zero Index

  (GO64! Homepage)
  Author: GO64   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1407
Welcome to the homepage of the C64/128 magazine with disk by the CSW publishing house. Update on the English Go64! editorial staff. At the end of January 2002, we have built up a mailinglist for the new Commodore World/Go64! editorial staff. About 20 volunteers intend to bring up the new CW/Go64!-Magazine. If you want to join us, you may contact us here. From now on, we try to put a new editorial staff together which will act as something like a "autonomous" part of the Go64! and will edit and layout the magazine on its own (with the help of the German team, of course).

  16/32 Systems
  Author: 16/32 Systems   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1399
16/32 are one of the oldest Atari supporting companies around since 1991. We started with a PD Library and grew into a full time retail outlet supporting Atari, Amiga and PC. Now I have gone back to my roots and will keep supporting Atari whilst I work at my new job. This web site is divided in to 2 parts; 1). This area will be a general resource and information about Atari, Amiga and in general. Divided in 3 parts each ill contain links and info on all types of subjects 2). The Sales Catalogue. This is available through the links in each section but they go to a Online Web Sales Area (which again is still progressing). The catalogue is a programmed using Actinic which seems very easy to use... I hope. It is fully functional but you can obviously check by email or phone. Any credit card transfer is secured through Actinic 128bit protection and Zen.

Amiga And Commodore, Back Together (Sort Of)
Author: Jenny List   Verified: Aug 13, 2026   id: 2421
The story of Commodore, the famous manufacturer of home computers, is a murky one at best. Commodore fans will decry their woeful marketing and dismal product roadmap, while former employees such as our Hackaday colleague [Bil Herd] have shone a bit of light on the goings-on behind the scenes. The company’s final demise in the collapse of the German company Escom scattered its parts to the four winds, but now we find a potential return to clarity.

Amiga hangs its second coming on a scalable OS
  Author:   Archived: 2000-12-10   Verified: Aug 03, 2026   id: 2284
{{ARCHIVED}} AMIGA'S scalable operating system, Amiga DE, will be embedded in TV set-top boxes by Christmas, with handheld devices and games consoles scheduled for next year. Amiga president and CEO Bill McEwen, in Melbourne earlier this month to unveil the AmigaOne PC, says the rejuvenated company has set its sights well beyond the desk-top PC market. "We, as a company, are focusing all of our attention on OEMs (original equipment manufacturers)," says McEwen. "We have a consortium in Japan of 63 companies and this will be using our stuff on a whole new breed of handhelds.

Amiga lives! Gateway resurrects a pioneering PC
Author: Karen Whitehouse   Archived: 2001-06-09   Verified: Aug 05, 2026   id: 2305
{{ARCHIVED}} Amiga owners who have been holding their aging computers together with tape and bailing wire are rejoicing at the news that Gateway 2000 Inc. will introduce a line of the desktop machines and a new operating system within a year. Gateway 2000 bought the rights to the Amiga brand and its patents in a German bankruptcy court in March, leading to feverish speculation among the groundbreaking graphics computer's small but devoted core of fanatics. Gateway operates Amiga as a separate division, but until now has kept mum about its plans for Amiga

Author: English Amiga Board forums   Verified: Aug 09, 2026   id: 2190
Welcome to the Amiga Magazine Rack! The Amiga Magazine Rack was launched in early 2007 after more than 2 years of development. The website you see today grew from 3 independent coverdisk and review indexes independently compiled by members of the Hall of Light team. The site has close ties with the Hall of Light games database, with extensive cross-linking between the two sites. As a result, the current focus of the Amiga Magazine Rack is games, although application/hardware reviews and serious articles will be indexed in the fullness of time. The Amiga Magazine Rack is backed by a large review database which is linked to tens of thousands of scanned pages. (84 different Magazines cataloged)

  Amiga Master
  Author: n/a   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 304
Slovenian Amiga internet magazine Well, Slovenia is beautiful, but when it comes to computers, there is only one - PC. Yes, there is even one outlet that sells Mac software and hardware here and no official stores for Amiga. That means no hardware and no software, not even old and ugly games. We have to order everything from countries such as Germany and UK. It is very hard to promote Amiga in Slovenia, because even if we do, there is hardly a place one could get the machine except in adds of used hardware. Very few Amigas live in Slovenia. In fact, so little of them that I will start to call them endangered Species. Of course there weren't any magazines for Amiga at all, until Amiga Master came along.

Amiga preps dual-OS plan, outlines hardware line-up
Author: Tony Smith   Verified: Sep 15, 2026   id: 6046
Amiga, inc. is turning itself into Be, if this weekend's revelations from the Amiga 2000 show, held in St. Louis, are anything to go by. During the show, the company said it had entered into partnerships with a series of companies, most notably Sun, Red Hat and Corel, put Java at the forefront of its software efforts and outlined its hardware plans. The key announcement on the hardware front was an upcoming developer-oriented machine, designed to get coders working with Amiga's software technology as quickly as possible. Based on a 500MHz AMD K6-II and 64MB of RAM, it's not exactly the most powerful box out there, but it should be cheap.

What is this website about...? I am an avid videogame magazines collector collecting magazines since 1989. Back in 2000 my old mags from the Eighties started to fall apart and I decided to preserve them by converting game reviews to HTML. This website contains 7811 reviews of 2375 games for the Amiga home computer that originally appeared between 1987 and 2000 in seven mags I regularly bought: Amiga Computing, Amiga Format, Amiga Joker, Amiga Power, CU Amiga, ZERO and Zzap!

Welcome to Commodore's Amiga UNIX Community. Created to share experiences with the Amiga UNIX Operating System. This site has been created with two objectives: 1. To salvage Commodore's Amiga Unix Operating System. 2. To exchange information about the installation and operation of Amiga UNIX.. We can talk about the other versions (LINUX and NetBSD) of UNIX for the Amiga but that would be at a later date. So, I hope we all have fun bringing back this great operating system to work, at least for us. GREAT!!!!

  AmigaNG
Author: Vincent Perkins   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 2185
Welcome If you're a first time visitor, this site is dedicated to covering all the information on the next generation of Amiga computers and operating systems. With the arrival of the AmigaOne systems, Vampire FPGA boards, AmigaOS PPC & Classic continued to be developed, Aros a Open Source compatible OS, and MorphOS, heavily inspired compatible OS, the future of Amiga has never looked healthier. All these products need a website to report on them and this is just one of the reasons for this site. AmigaNG started way back in February 1999 to cover news on the AmigaMCC (later cancelled), it is now one of the longest running next generation Amiga focus sites on the planet. Its not official and is not sponsored, but is still one of the best places for your source of next generation information of Amiga computing. I hope you enjoy the site.

  Amithlon.net
Author: Bernd Meyer   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 686
Welcome to amithlon.net. This is the website of the main Amithlon author. Here you will find all sorts of up-to-date news, as well as answers to hopefully all of your Amithlon questions. Amithlon is a low-level Amiga emulator for current x86 PCs. It provides very high performance CPU emulation, as well as a translation layer that lets AmigaOS use common PC hardware without the usual drawbacks of emulators. The philosophy behind the development of Amithlon was not to create an Amiga emulator that runs on top of some PC OS, but to turn a current PC into an Amiga. With Amithlon, AmigaOS is in the driver's seat, and directly controls all the hardware.

Gateway 'could have had it all'
Author: Mary Jo Foley   Verified: Sep 15, 2026   id: 6047
Gateway Inc. may have big plans for Linux-based Internet appliances. But Amiga Inc. -- the company Gateway bought in 1997 and subsequently sold off last year -- has aspirations and agreements of its own to bring Linux to "Amigans." "We're doing exactly what Gateway said they'd do with us," said Bill McEwen, president and CEO of the Snoqualmie, Wash.-based U.S. arm of Amiga. "Gateway could have had it all."

Gateway shelves plans for new Amiga PC
Author: CNET staff   Verified: Sep 15, 2026   id: 6044
In another twist in the long saga of the Amiga computer, Gateway--the company's would-be savior--apparently won't be making a new Amiga machine anytime soon. Instead, the PC maker will focus on opportunities in the emerging information appliance market, according to sources, and its Amiga subsidiary is redefining itself as a software company. That was unwelcome news to long-suffering fans of the Amiga computer, which has become something of a cult-like icon with a following to match.

  Gateway's Amiga prepares for return
Author: CNET staff   Verified: Sep 15, 2026   id: 6043
Direct PC maker Gateway appears to be revving up a strategy for decidedly un-PC like "information appliances" through its independent subsidiary, Amiga. Gateway's purchase of Amiga in 1997 mystified many in the computer industry. Amiga's time in the spotlight had long since passed, although it still had many devotees using it for its advanced multimedia capabilities. Two years later, however, the plan is beginning to take shape.

Gateway's plan to bring back Amiga
Author: ZDNet UK   Verified: Sep 15, 2026   id: 6045
Gateway is set to revive the Amiga legend. But will it be the real McCoy? Two years ago, PC maker Gateway acquired the rights to the personal-computer industry's most famous cult product, the Amiga PC. The Amiga made its debut in 1985, and still has fans, partly as a result of a James Dean-like history: a rapid rise, then a tragic end.

Inside the Italy Amiga talks: Commodore’s next big retro computing question
Author: Generationamiga   Verified: Aug 05, 2026   id: 2313
The latest Commodore press release reads less like a conventional corporate update and more like a carefully placed signal to the retro computing world. Beneath the travel notes, the Italy setting, the private meetings and the easy humour, there is a serious business story developing. Christian Simpson, better known to many retro fans as Peri Fractic, is not only trying to sell new Commodore hardware. He is trying to rebuild a broken technology mythology into a functioning modern company. That is a much harder job than producing a good retro computer.

As you can imagine, I have been following the newsgroups closely as you discuss the Linux decision. The personal attacks on me are discouraging but I can't blame some people for being very angry. It's understandable given what the Amiga community has been through in the last few years and the way this situation unfolded. I wish I could have managed this situation better but I have been traveling a lot and QNX blindsided us with their announcement. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we were planning to communicate the Linux decision along with our technical brief.

  Matt Parsons AROS Page
Author: Matt Parsons   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 2138
AROS is an attempt to build from scratch an AmigaOS 3.1 clone. Up to now this has been a slow process, but finally we have a working operating system. There is a whole lot of stuff missing, like networking, sound drivers and things like that, but it does have a simple desktop and a fully functional command line. On an internal level we have followed AmigaOS, except where we can speed things up or make them more modular by using a custom built object oriented system. AmigaOS was really quite object oriented as it is, all we are doing is upgrading the parts Commodore never had time to do. Also our OS is portable across computer platforms.

Author: John G. Spooner   Verified: Sep 15, 2026   id: 6048
Can the reconstituted company recapture its former glory? If it does, Linux, Java and Jini will loom large. Amiga fans wondering whether their beloved brand will recapture its former glory will need to wait a bit longer for a definitive answer. No, Amiga is not getting back into the PC business, per se. Instead, the reconstituted company acquired by Gateway Inc. a couple of years ago will supply operating system software and hardware reference specifications to makers of PCs and appliances. Amiga designs will use Linux as well as off-the-shelf components, such as Universal Serial Bus, for connecting peripherals.

DESCRIPTION OF THE SITE'S PURPOSE. PROBLEMS:A lot of commercial software houses have left the Amiga society and less 'state of the art' programs are released. Inspired and skilled programmers have become rare 'cause a lot moved over to other systems. Public Domain authors tend to have a strange habit of 're'-programming the same software tools over and over again. CONCLUSION:Make sure that every programming effort provides a final product that is useful, original, easy to use and up to date. SOLUTION: An online database that collects ideas, comments and wishes of the users. The contents can be freely consulted as long as every programmer reports what idea he's working on and how the development progresses.

Amiga musician Dennis Lohr, known in the scene as Psyria, passed away a few days ago, as confirmed by various sources, including his fellow musician Markus Pflaumbaum. Psyria was a longtime and highly regarded musician in the German Amiga scene who produced his works exclusively on the Amiga - using tracker tools such as DigiBooster Pro and engaging in a lively exchange of data and samples via IRC and forums. amiga-news.de has followed Dennis Lohr for many years. In 2001, he produced a song for amiga-news.de (our report). His albums The Last Obligation (2005), The 2nd Chapter (2007), and Moving On (2018) were created entirely on the Amiga. (nba)

RedHat 5.1 Linux- Now for your Amiga !!!
Author: Webmaster   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1445
Introduction - This document set explains how to install and setup RedHat m68k Linux on your Amiga. I assume you have some experience with Linux, otherwise I recommend that you purchase any of the books written for newcomers to Linux- there are dozens of such books, most are very thick and include an (intel) Linux CDROM that doubles as a convenient drink coaster. If you are new to Linux, please take a few moments to browse the entire contents of this document set before charging into the install process. By doing so you will save yourself a lot of time and trouble.

  SIDPLAY Home Page
  Author: n/a   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1537
  - A multi-platform C64 music player and SID chip emulator - Basically, SIDPLAY [1] is just an ordinary music player software. More specifically, SIDPLAY emulates the Sound Interface Device chip (MOS 6581, commonly called SID) and the Micro Processor Unit (MOS 6510) of the Commodore 64 [2] on your computer. It is a platform independent software which emulates these hardware components. Therefore it is able to load and execute C64 machine code programs which produce music or sound. In general these are independent fragments of code and data which have been ripped from games and demonstration programs and have been transferred directly from the C64. For the Amiga, BeOS, OS/2 Warp, win. Mac, Linux and others.

  The Amiga magazine list
Author: Claude Müller   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 303
The almost complete AMIGA Magazines List. Since I've got my Amiga back in 1988 I've been looking for Amiga-magazines on newsstands all over the world. I mostly bought German Amiga-magazines, but when I was on vacation I perhaps got a bit ""computer-homesick"" and looked for other Amiga-magazines. I have found many, mostly on airports, but also at really funny places where no-one would expect to find an Amiga-magazine. I found lots of mags. I guess most Amigafans don't know or at least haven't seen most of the mags I mention in this list. However, the list is not complete. I do not have any Amiga-magazines from the Netherlands (there was one). Also if there should have been any African or South American Amiga-magazines (I doubt it), I didn't find them.

An operating system like OS/2, Linux and Windows, not only a tool for development studies or just a professional system running a few tasks. We're talking about a system that's useable by both beginners and professionals alike. It simply means that yellowTAB intend to trace back the roots of BeOS.
