  (Im)Patient Amigas
Author: Robert Du Gaue and Harv Laser   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1543
The fifth annual AmiWest Amiga computer show was held in July. Each year the Amiga faithful gather to discuss the future of their beloved computer and discuss the old days when their computers were eons ahead of the competition. However, the last new Amiga model, the 1200, shipped in 1993 and the brand has unfortunately taken on the image of a vintage, or cult platform, due mostly to the lack of new machines. While there are still Amiga dealers who sell and support the platform, significant new software titles, outside of the public domain/shareware area, are few and far between. Glossy Amiga magazines have all but vanished, except in Europe. The Amiga platform is not dead, it's just sort of hibernating.

16 bit were enough: when Commodore Amiga computers ruled the Techno and Hardcore dancefloors around Europe
  Author:   Verified: Aug 05, 2026   id: 2312
Everyone knows the commodore 64, or c64, or "bread box", of course. the single most sold unit in computer history, to this day. The "sequel" computer by the commodore company might be lesser known, sadly. the commodore amiga is a bit of a glitch in the timeline of Computers. When it was engineered in the 80s, it was way ahead of its competition. 4096 colors at once, build-in parallax scrolling, a GUI that looked (and worked) better than microsoft windows, multimedia abilities...

A Nudge In The Right Direction
Author: John Chandler   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1336
Real Soon Now is a phrase that frequently takes on a whole new dimension in the Amiga community. Those three words conjure up the Curse of Commodore to many, striking away at every chance of the Amiga to make a triumphant return. Real Soon Now has been the cry of many projects over the years, projects that have claimed to continue the evolution of the Amiga in some shape or form: Walker, InsideOut, BoXeR, A/Box, Pre/Box, Pios One, Amiga MCC. So I guess it's hard for some to accept the fact that the Amiga community has a genuine Real Soon Now heading... well, heading real soon.

  A4000 Front Cover
  Author:   Verified: Aug 06, 2026   id: 2350
Old computers are great, but the plastics don't stand the test of time, yellowing through brominated flame retardants, or just getting brittle with age. The Amiga 4000 is one of those affected, and due to the limited numbers they were produced in, replacement parts are difficult to get hold of. I created this front cover to sit alongside some of the other case replacement projects out there, and in particular, efforts to reverse-engineer and provide spares for worn-out parts.

Author: arananet   Verified: Aug 09, 2026   id: 2386
This is a recreation of the Amiga 4000 DaughterBoard. I have made it from ground using the A4000 original schematics. It includes all the Zorro slots and also include a VGA 15khz output connector to use with a VGA metal bracket. The ISA ports has been removed from the design. Some new options has beed added on the new version 1.2 This work great on all the Amiga 4000 revisions, except of course the A4000T.

It connects to the Internet to retrieve mail from a POP3 Server and sends mail through a SMTP server. To connect to the Internet, AEMail does require a TCP/IP stack such as AmiTCP, TermiteTCP, or Miami, or any stack that is compatible with AmiTCP. AEMail can run on any version of AmigaDOS 2.1 or later. Other than the TCP/IP stack, AEMail requires no additional programs that do not come with a standard equipped Amiga.

Amiga Anywhere Entertainment Pack #1 (Review)
Author: Neil J. Rubenking   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1776
Back when the IBM PC was mostly used in text mode, the Amiga A1000 blazed with 4,096 colors and stereo sound. This package brings four Amiga-style games to your Pocket PC or phone, including Solitaire, Gobbler, Convex, and an elaborate outer-space shoot-'em-up called Planet Zed. But don't expect your PDA to be as thumb-friendly as a Nintendo Game Boy.

  Amiga ASCII art
Author: Heikki Lotvonen   Verified: Aug 29, 2026   id: 2226
In my thesis, I study Amiga ASCII text art. Amiga ASCII is a form of text art where the composition of letter characters set in the Amiga computer's font forms a two-dimensional representation or image. The Amiga scene is a subculture of computer enthusiasts that was popular in the 1990s. At its core are the logos and other visual materials created for BBS systems and the competitive rivalry among artists who create text art over their image-making prowess.

Amiga Lorraine: finally, the "next generation Atari"?
Author: John J. Anderson   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1800
CREATIVE COMPUTING VOL. 10, NO. 4 / APRIL 1984 / PAGE 150. As the 1984 Winter CES drew to a close, people began to ask me, "Well, what was the hit of the show?" Hard to say. Overall, the show was short on blockbusters, at least in the realm of microcomputers. Commodore introducedd its new machine, the 264 (see the related sidebar and "Commodore's Port" for more information on this development). Atari and Apple were playing their cards close to the vest, and had little to report this time around. New software was in abundance, but with the possible exception of Relax from Synapse (about which you will read more in an upcoming issue), nothing really knocked me off my feet.

Q: I've been hearing that the beloved computer of my youth, the Commodore Amiga, is making a comeback. Seems like these rumors have made the rounds before. Any reason I should get my hopes up this time? The Amiga is, indeed, rising phoenix-like from the ashes of computer history, though you can forget about the "Commodore" half of the equation.

Author: Vincent Perkins   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 491
If your a fist time visitors, this site is dictated to covering all information on the next generation of Amiga`s. With the imminent arrival of the Amiga One, Amiga OS 4.X and Amiga DE, the future of Amiga has never looked healthier. All these products need a web site to report on them, and this is just one of them. AmigaNG started way back in Feb 1999 to cover news on the Amiga MCC (later cancelled), it is now one of the longest running next generation site. Its not official, and is not sponsor, but is done out of momentum. Enjoy the site.

Amiga revs OS, wins more phone blessings
Author: Andrew Orlowski   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 680
The rejuvenated Amiga company, Amiga Inc., this week released the a feature list for the latest version of its OS, bringing support for the recent hardware to the platform. AmigaOS4 - it's alloneword, you see - is being developed on old 68000-based Commodore Amiga 4000s (running PPC cards), but it's a transitional release that already runs on the nominated platform of the future: PowerPC. The shell, the GUI and the TCP/IP stack are already native PPC code.

Author: Robert   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 128
These pages are dedicated to supporting the Amiga Siamese System developed by Siamese Systems Ltd (previously known as HiQ Ltd). The purpose of these pages are to promote the Siamese System, whilst "telling it like it is". By this I mean no hype, no bullshit - just the facts as I see them. I would like to make it clear that I have no connection with Siamese Systems Ltd, but I simply believe in this excellent product. Unfortunately it seems that Steve has given up on the Amiga market and Paul has lost interest, now concentrating his efforts on Photogenics 4.x.

{{ARCHIVED}} Welcome to our user group web site. Our Amiga user group (Full name: Amiga Online Israel User-Group Network) is the only one of its kind in Israel. Though the numbers of Amiga computers in Israel is pretty small (due to bad marketing on the account of Commodore Computer and its importers and marketers in Israel) we believe that with the introduction of the Amiga OS 4.0 and 5.0, and with our help in spreading the news and persuasion, the Amiga could really become a hit in Israel like it was in Europe. Good source for history and information.

  Amiga Translators' Organization
Author: ATO   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1512
Amiga Translators' Organization was created because for a long time, programmers who wanted translations for their programs would either have to post "Translators wanted"-mails onto newgroups and mailing lists, or they must use translators they knew. This was of course annoying to some users of the mailing lists and newsgroups, it would not give the programmer as many translators as possible, and last, but not least, the programmer didn't have any quality assurance of the translations done by his translators. ATO was then built as being an organized pool of translators. We want to make programmers' lives as easy as possible by offering many translators for a wide range of languages, and still offer the quality assurance. This quality assurance is done through the proofreading concept which you can see here.

It also provides some of the features of next-generation systems, such as more global interoperability, OS-version independance, complete modularity, and a high degree of flexibility.

ImageFX (Full version 3.x), Several high end games. A plethora of Amiga Utilities (both AmigaOS & x86-enhanced, even an AmigaDVD player which worked great...) ConnectSoft produced the popular product Email Connection, one of the first cross-vendor email clients, and Kid-Mail Connection – a version designed for children.

amix-kerntools — the Amiga UNIX kernel build hub
Author: jusii   Verified: Sep 17, 2026   id: 6061
Amix is Commodore's port of AT&T System V Release 4 (SVR4.0) UNIX to the 68030 Amiga (the A3000UX and A4000). amix-kerntools is the build hub for a family of MIT-licensed device drivers for it: it owns how an Amix kernel is built. It discovers driver repos by their driver.conf, generates the SCSI controller-selector wiring, applies each driver's kernel patches, links the kernel, and runs a clean-gate that defeats an intermittent emulator linker-corruption bug. It ships no driver source (those live in the sibling driver repos) and no Amix — you bring your own licensed Amix 2.1 install. See AGENTS.md for the driver-author contract and REPOS.md for the ecosystem map.

ARTAS is both a concept and a system component. It allows applications to use "any" kind of data is their input and output without knowing about the contents or structure of the data stream. Parsing and interpreting of data contents is done by external modules called "driver modules". Each stream can be divided, mixed, time-synced etc by attaching "codecs" and "plugins" to it. ARTAS deals with Audio, Video, MPEG and any other kind of data that links an abritary number of data blocks.

About Us.. This site mostly is a one-man project so let me introduce myself. I'm FRaNKy and I live in Belgium not far from Brussels in a town called Asse. Since 1982 I've been using C64's after my dad got one for using MultiPlan and I played my games on it. When dad got his PC (a Schneider XT) the C64 was mine and quite fast I was playing around in Basic but mostly still playing games. Then I got my A500 and many Amiga's followed, the C64 was pushed to the back and honestly I didn't do much on it anymore. After starting out as a mailswapper in the Amiga scene I quitted that after being leader of (Crux &) Bad Karma and running my BBS Doxology. Not losing contact with the scene I decided to re-enter it on my first love - the C64 - at the Mekka & Symposium Party 2000 when I joined Role. Since then I've been active as an editor for the diskmags Rock'N'Role and Arachnophobia (published together with Spiders Crew) and doing some graphics work.

Classic AmigaOS Emulation - A Guide for WinUAE
Author: Mike Bouma   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 663
As Amiga Inc is about to re-enter the computer arena with new AmigaOS4 powered desktop systems as well as with 3rd party embedded products utilizing AmigaDE technology pre-installed, there are a growing number of people who wonder what an advanced classic AmigaOS currently offers. This was an important reason for me to write a simple to understand WinUAE tutorial, so this would hopefully help interested people with setting up a fun and easy to use emulated AmigaOS environment on widely available mainstream Windows computers. This article also includes many WinUAE screenshots and information on acquiring and using freely available software.

  Commodore Amiga 500 Artwork
Author: GibboK   Verified: Aug 04, 2026   id: 2296
These are some of the artworks I created on my Amiga 500 Plus in 1991. They are images I used to draw back then, mostly in Deluxe Paint and Brilliance. The artworks were recovered from VHS tape backups made from my Amiga. The slight blur and analog artifacts are part of the original preservation process, so I kept that feeling instead of trying to make everything look too clean.

On Monday March 2, RJ Mical (=RJ=) spoke at the Boston Computer Society meeting in Cambridge. Fortunately I was momentarily possessed with an organizational passion, and I took copious notes. I present them here filtered only through my memory and my Ann Arbor. My comments are in [square brackets]. We believe that if a time comes when one single platform is the only one in use the computer industry will suffer. Without competition there is stagnation, and no one platform can hope to be best suited to every application. While there are alternatives development is spurred on by competition, and people are free to choose the platform which best suits their needs.

Author: dfx   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1415
Compatible with Amithlon, WinUAE, Classic Amigas, hopefully AmigaOne. There will be 2 options available: Dfx with Option 1 Classic Amigas to enable PC HD floppies as DF0: (requires KS3.0,020 or >) DFx with Option 2 Amithlon/WinUAE able to read and write Amiga floppies. How it Works: Pass thru PCB with 34Way Header on one side and 34Way Socket on the Other. Also Uses 5V power from the floppy connector which is also passed thru. The chip polls at 2 sec intervals to test for disk insertion. Hopefully Amithlon can make use of this feature so that when the Disk Requestor comes up it will auto read like a true amiga.

I was hoping to have more information to discuss this month, and possibly even an AmigaOne to play with, but best laid plans and all that. The situation at the moment is tantalisingly close to what Amiga users have been eagerly anticipating this year. The AmigaDE is making it to computer stores in North America and soon the rest of the world, the AmigaOne and AmigaOS 4 are due shortly, as are the Pegasos and MorphOS.

A legacy of software made for the most respected home computer ever built. Greetings! and welcome to my little corner of the web. You'll find here programs for the Amiga that are either part of the Fred Fish collection, or simply hard to find on the Internet, such as utilities for Workbench 2.0 and earlier (but they work on any version of Workbench). Also, this site was set up for those out there who use an emulator, and need some software to use on it. Although I have no Kickstarts or Workbench floppy images here, you'll find everything else you need.

  GameOver Game Reviews (Amiga Anywhere)
Author: Fwiffo   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1778
The name Amiga in this day and age probably has less of a hold on youthful gamers than it had back in the days of Atari. Back then, Amiga represented one of the elite platforms for gaming. That is, until people figured out the PC could do a little more than crunching numbers and replacing the typewriter. Even then, the Amiga was always known for its artistic prowess both in the audio and visual departments. Vis-à-vis the use and composition of soundtracks, the Amiga had a je ne sais quoi that many people, including me, found appealing.

{{ARCHIVED}} If you install your Zip Drive following the recommended procedure you will not be able to boot from it. This is not a limitation of the drive itself, but rather a feature of the way HiSoft have decided to handle the problem of removable media on the Amiga. The Amiga has no Graphical Interface for mounting and unmounting Removable Media. This means that in order to mount an removable device on the workbench you must either use a public domain program such as SCSI-Probe, or use the command line to issue "mount" and "diskchange" commands.

EyeTech Group Ltd., which announced the commercial availability of the AmigaOne in March, announced the rerelease and update of the AmigaOne after the company's developers discovered problems in the company's custom chipset. Although the company now offers systems based upon the PowerPC 7451 processor used in the Apple Macintosh, systems still won't be available until "just before Christmas", the U.K.-based firm said.

I realize that very few CEO's would make themselves available to their customers, and I he deserves recognition for doing so. After reading the "I Bought a" thread and seeing all the rumours that were being discussed, I thought that it would be useful to the MooBunny community to have these rumours cleared up, at least as much as possible. To achieve this I decided to call Bill McEwen this evening and ask him directly. Following are questions that I asked, paraphrased responses, and some of my impressions and opinions.

It's based around the Quark microkernel and runs the OS within an emulation box providing a fast 680x0 emulation. A fully PPC native exec replacement provides ways to write native PPC programs running into the emulation box in a mixed mode. For consistency, we'll call the Commodore system 'ABox' from now on.

  Jargon File
Author: Jargon File   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1523
This document is a collection of slang terms used by various subcultures of computer hackers. Though some technical material is included for background and flavor, it is not a technical dictionary; what we describe here is the language hackers use among themselves for fun, social communication, and technical debate. The `hacker culture' is actually a loosely networked collection of subcultures that is nevertheless conscious of some important shared experiences, shared roots, and shared values. It has its own myths, heroes, villains, folk epics, in-jokes, taboos, and dreams. Because hackers as a group are particularly creative people who define themselves partly by rejection of `normal' values and working habits, it has unusually rich and conscious traditions for an intentional culture less than 40 years old.

If you are new to Java and don't know much about it, you might like to find out more about Java. In short, Java is a modern, object-oriented programming language that is most often compiled into Java Byte Code so that it can be interpreted on Java Virtual Machines, which in turn are programs that run on most computers.

Recently, Sharp has nixed jumping on the Palm or Pocket PC bandwagons — opting for their own, proprietary operating system. But now, with their Zaurus SL-5500 they’ve decided to switch their handhelds to Linux.

  lxa (Lin)Amiga Emulation Layer
Author: gooofy (Guenter Bartsch)   Verified: Oct 03, 2026   id: 6081
lxa runs AmigaOS executables natively on Linux, similar to how WINE runs Windows programs. It combines a 68000 CPU emulator with AmigaOS library implementations, bridging system calls to Linux I/O and filesystem operations. The long-term goal is for lxa to become a viable development platform for Amiga software on Linux — enabling Amiga developers to write, test, and run productivity applications and IDEs directly on commodity hardware (Linux PC, Raspberry Pi) without needing real Amiga hardware. RTG (Retargetable Graphics) via Picasso96 is the primary display strategy, targeting full true-color screens at arbitrary resolutions.

The goal is NOT to run every single amiga(TM) game/demo ever written as this would forbid certain optimizations, but to run a large amount of the the current base of amiga(TM) application software.

Origin of a Browser - The Netscape Museum
Author: Chuck Lau   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1812
"Origin of a Browser" is a project dedicated to web archaeology - the study and preservation of rapidly disappearing artifacts associated with the Early Netscape Period. In October of 1994, Mosaic Communications Corporation (renamed "Netscape Communications" on 11 November 1994) introduced the first public beta of their browser, "Mosaic NetScape." Those interested in this era will note that many of the web pages, images, and other artifacts dating from this time have been lost because of the ever-changing nature of the Internet. In fact, older versions of the Netscape browser itself are becoming increasingly endangered, particularly the pre-release betas predating version 1.0.

PGP for the Amiga info page
Author: Robert A. Knop Jr   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 56
PGP stands for "Pretty Good Privacy," and it is a public key encryption program. Public key encryption is a scheme where any message encrypted with public key X can only be decrypted with secret key X. In conventional cryptography, one key (or password) is used to both encrypt and decrypt a message. This has the problem that you need a secure channel over which to communicate the password before you can send encrypted messages over an insecure channel. With public key encryption, you publish your public key as widely as possible, and keep a tight reign on your secret key. That way, anybody with your public key can write a message that only you can decrypt, since only you have your secret key.

Porting my 1993 Amiga game to Godot, with an LLM reading the 68000 assembly
Author: Rabah Shihab   Verified: Sep 05, 2026   id: 6006
In 1993, in Baghdad, I built a game called Babylonian Twins on an Amiga 500: 512KB of RAM, no hard drive, plugged into a TV. I was an engineering student in my twenties. Pure 68000 assembly, every sprite and every scanline by hand. Murtadha Salman drew the art and Mahir AlSalman composed the music. We were under sanctions. No internet, no game development resources, just one copy of the Amiga Hardware Reference Manual, which I used to program the hardware directly, and electricity a few hours a day. The constant floppy disk swapping (because of the small memory) and the 50°C summers killed my disk drive three times.

RetroSystems. Everything old is new again. This isn't about the same dull computers you can buy anywhere else. It's about art and fun. Turning a vintage game console into a full computer that can play any PC game is cool. Taking the original Amiga 1000, with it's funky keyboard garage, and customizing and supercharging it to be a fast Linux or Windows box that can also be faster than any other Amiga 1000. That's cool too. Grab a slice of your history and make a statement. Take that corporate machined blah computer off your desk! Buy the whole system or just the parts to do it yourself. Plus likns to all the BEST case mods on the net!!!

After many years the CD-ReWriter has become a standard piece of kit. It is a useful tool as it lets you backup audio CD's and CD-ROM's. Likewise if you wish to backup sections of your hard drive, a twenty five pence blank CD will hold 650Mb of your precious data. If you fancy creating a CD compilation of your favourite audio tracks then you will need a CD-ReWriter to do so.

Hello, my name is Piotr. I've been programming computers since the Commodore VC-20. I'm involved in the development of large corporate systems, but for some time now nostalgia and retro popularity have made me go back to the wonderful years of my youth, to dive back into this great world of computers with soul. So I gave up writing games for Windows/Linux/Android in favor of Commodore C64, Amiga and ZX Spectrum. You can expect more, hopefully better productions from Rozsoft!

  - A multi-platform C64 music player and SID chip emulator - Basically, SIDPLAY [1] is just an ordinary music player software. More specifically, SIDPLAY emulates the Sound Interface Device chip (MOS 6581, commonly called SID) and the Micro Processor Unit (MOS 6510) of the Commodore 64 [2] on your computer. It is a platform independent software which emulates these hardware components. Therefore it is able to load and execute C64 machine code programs which produce music or sound. In general these are independent fragments of code and data which have been ripped from games and demonstration programs and have been transferred directly from the C64. For the Amiga, BeOS, OS/2 Warp, win. Mac, Linux and others.

  The Amiga RC5 team Effort
Author: Amiga RC5 Challenge   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1326
The RSA Secret Key Challenge is about the need for stronger encryption for the Internet to safeguard privacy. To prove this need and to prove that current encryption strengths are insufficient RSA Labs have started a challenge to crack the DES and RC5 algorithms (RC5 in several different strengths) and tied an award of up to US $10,000 to each key found. In the late nineties several combined efforts have sprung up to crack these keys by using the distributed power of computers in a brute force approach over the Internet, so far cracking the 56 bit DES key (three times), the first three RC5 keys (40, 48 and 56 bit) and unrelated to the RSA contests, a 56 bit CSC key; several other projects some of which unrelated to encryption are happening or in the pipeline, such as Optimal Golomb Rulers (OGR). We aim to participate in these efforts for the sake of exposure for the Amiga.

What links the following? #1: a best-selling home computer, #2: one of the most beloved non-console gaming machines of the 80s and 90s, and #3: the first personal computer to sell over 1 million units. A lot of people over 30 will probably name a Commodore machine as the first computer they ever used, be it a Commodore PET in the late seventies, a VIC-20 or Commodore 64 from the 1980s, or even one of the Amiga line in the early nineties. Some will have played their first game on one or wrote their first program in BASIC, perhaps leading them to a life-long career in the tech industry-I'm one of many who owe a debt of gratitude to the company.

The Illustrated Guide To Breaking Your Computer

When you work in a job where you are constantly using computers for long enough, you develop a certain anxious feeling which can pretty much only be cured by beating the hell out of an old computer or two. However, since this can be extremely frustrating and nerve-wracking if done incorrectly, I am providing for fellow techies and interested persons an illustrated step-by-step guide for Satisfying Computer Destruction.

One thing that anyone still using an Amiga has gained over the years is a sense of patience. No matter how tough things get, no matter how much the situation ups and downs, most Amiga users will remain fairly patient in the face of frustrations that would have owners of other platforms cursing and wailing. Yes we do get moments of despair, yes sometimes it does look bleak and you can be forgiven for losing the optimism and thick-skins built up in the post-Commodore years... but then things come along and suddenly everything looks bright again.

{{ARCHIVED}} Once upon a time, there lived a breakthrough in computing—the Amiga A1000, which burst onto the market in 1985 as the first legitimate full-color-interface computer—in effect, a color Macintosh before the color Macintosh. (It also was the world’s first 32-bit PC, well ahead of the Mac and fully 10 years before Windows 95.) The Amiga was dedicated to multimedia before the term was even coined in the computer industry.

Motivation. Ever held a subscription to BUGTRAQ? If you happen to be filming a documentary about how suckass developers are producing the flimsy ripe-for-failure infrastructure of the future, a year long subscription to Bugtraq should give you a boat-load of leads to follow. Software is getting really bad. When software was just crashing a lot it was bad enough. Save often. Install the latest patches. The server has been up for a month straight? No shit. Reboot it just n case. As bad as that was, the Internet has made it so much worse. While the Internet itself is probably the most impressive thing that humanity has built to date, it also comes with some nasty stuff that we're going to have to deal with. Since everyone in the world is now milliseconds away from all of this high quality software running on your computers, you face a circus of grave security risks.

This software would not have been possible for us to produce without the great Free Software model which allowed us to make use of years of hard work of the UAE team. Most of the thanks goes to their pioneering work to build the necessary infrastructure, especially Bernd Schmidt, the initiator of UAE project.

  vamos - virtual Amiga OS
  Author:   Verified: Oct 03, 2026   id: 6082
Introduction: The virtual AmigaOS runtime (aka Wine for Amiga :) vamos is a tool that allows to run AmigaOS m68k CLI binaries directly on your Mac or PC. It emulates the AmigaOS by providing implementations for some functions of the Exec and DOS library. It will run typical console binaries that do not rely on user interface (intuition) or graphics stuff. Its main focus is to run old compilers and assemblers to have some sort of "cross" compilers. This approach will not run any applications or games using direct hardware register access - for this use case a machine emulator like FS-UAE is the tool you will need... Remember, vamos is an API level emulator and never will be a full Amiga system emulator like WinUAE or FS-UAE!!

Wired News put out a call to readers for the technological wonders they most looked forward to in 2002 but never saw because developers delayed release or, in some cases, abandoned them altogether. Then we tabulated nominations and selected the top 10 -- or should we say bottom 10? -- most-waited-for-in-vain products. (Amiga is #9)

  Welcome to MagicEngine homepage!
Author: David & Cédric Michel   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1794
MagicEngine is a PC-Engine (TurboGrafx-16) console emulator: the famous console made by NEC back in '87... It was a nice little machine, with great graphic capacities (16-bit video processor, 512 colors, 64 sprites), and a fast and powerful 8-bit CPU. It also had a very good game collection, with high quality games, and even today some PC-Engine games are still without an equivalent on modern consoles. Of course if you enjoy only 3-D games, well, the PC-Engine may disappoint you a bit, but if you love good old 2-D games, especially shoot'em up, give it a try, it really has some excellent games! An Amiga port (OS 4) of MagicEngine may be possible too, we are thinking to that at the moment. If we do this port we will start to work on it after the release of v1.0. Thank you to all the Amiga users who sent us e-mails to support us!

Author: Reid C. Swenson   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1635
A Look at the Incredible History and Legacy of the Commodore Home Computers. There are many individuals who have probably never heard of the Commodore home computers and are unaware of their incredible legacy and the tremendous impact which they have had upon the evolution of computers. Some of the younger generation who are too young to remember the 1980's may still not have seen or heard much-- if anything-- about Commodore computers and likely have very little sense of their significance. (GREAT!!!!))

Windows XP Shows the Direction Microsoft is Going
Author: Michael Jennings, Futurepower   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 2115
You have a right to know. You have a right to all the information you need to make an informed choice about any product you buy. The author wrote this article because of the need to give his customers fundamental information about the direction Microsoft wants to take them. Few people have the technical background to understand fully the advantages and disadvantages of software as complex as an operating system. Without fundamental information, it is difficult for non-professionals to understand the advice of professionals.

  World of Amiga
Author: John Chandler   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 1737
It's been a while since I last attended a World of Amiga show. Back in 1999, Gateway were owners of the Amiga and we were in the aftermath of the whole QNX/Linux fiasco when the Amiga Inc. of the time had ditched kernel partner QSSL in favour of Linux. The show then had been huge, spanning a couple of levels in a hotel conference centre. A lot has changed in the last three years, and the WoA of today consisted of a modest hall and the obligatory bar/presentation room.

  www.GODS.country.de
Author: kametyken   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 2031
a BITMAP BROTHERS tribute page. The following pages are only regarding one thing: Gods and Cadaver, two of my favourite games from the good ol' days, when 16 bits was the state-of-the-art and games were still small enough to fit on on (or two) floppy disks. Here you'll find informations about new and classic games made by the Bros., as well as solutions of GODS and CADAVER. With the new design the site now really is a perfect stage for the legendary game developers.
