Users of Amiga OS4.1 will be aware that running the vast majority their classic games is done through emulation via E-UAE (Experimental Universal Amiga Emulator) and that this process is facilitated by the excellent RuninUAE program which allows you to run a game from the OS4.1 desktop without the need to set up any configuration files within the emulator. For the purposes of today’s blog, I will take a look at updating these programs on an X5000 machine whilst also taking the opportunity to update the Workbench environment in E-UAE from Amiga OS3.1 which comes as standard to Amiga OS3.9. I will also take a look at optimising the configuation files so that software designed for a 68030/40 processor or extra memory will run in classic mode and I will also look at creating a better resolution in classic mode through the use of Picasso 96 screenmodes. |

The Commodore A3640 is a very simple 68040 accelerator for the Amiga 3000 and 4000 made only to be low priced. So no memory onboard etc. BUT as they also populated the card with 3 electrolyte capacitors with the wrong polarity, many of them have died due to leakage. The most common problem is that there are a via that have gone bad due to the leakage. And I have been annoyed that it is kind of hard to follow traces. So last summer. I did the painful thing of finding 2 scanned pictures of a bare A3640 board and in paint.net I followed every single trace and documented it. |

Here I will try to collect different hardware problems and their solutions. This is a “never to be finished page” and have no idea whatsoever if this is a good media to do it. But. ok let’s try. ok? Some fixes and troubleshooting will require you to have spares, oscilloscopes, hot air station, solder station etc. and know how to use it. if not: let someone who got the knowledge/stuff to do it. |

NetBSD/amiga is the port of NetBSD to the Amiga line of personal computers by Commodore and [Amiga International] and to the DraCo by MacroSystem GmbH. Development activity on NetBSD/amiga continues at a speed dependent on people's spare time. Currently, NetBSD/amiga runs on any Amiga [1] that has a Motorola 68020 or better CPU with some form of MMU, and on 68060 DraCos. For 68020 and 68030 systems, a FPU is recommended but not required. 68LC040, 68040V and 68LC060 systems don't work correctly at the moment. |

NetBSD/amigappc is a very experimental port to the PowerPC-based Amiga expansion boards as manufactured by Phase 5. Supported peripheral devices will basically be the same as with NetBSD/amiga. Currently, we do not plan to create any binary release, but development will continue and is in fact, easier, now that cross-compilation of the base system is supported within NetBSD-current. |

{Homepage for AmiBlitz3} AMIBLITZ3 is a free development environment for AmigaOS3.x and compatible. To explain what AMIBLITZ3 is all about, you have to start with BlitzBasic. BlitzBasic, later BlitzBasic2, is an extensive and somewhat idiosyncratic basic dialect originally developed by Acidsoft and Red When Excited (RWE) for the Amiga. Despite the popularity it achieved in the 90s, after the Commodore bankruptcy and the subsequent decline of the Amiga market, Acidsoft was forced to stop developing BlitzBacic2 on the Amiga and devote itself exclusively to a version for Windows PCs. |

The project started in the spring 2000 when I bought my Amiga 1200. Previous owner had built it into IBM Aptiva 350 tower case which was functional but not so good looking. First task was to cover the two 5.25" disk bays with white cardboard as the case was missing the lid and add an Amiga sticker on top of IBM logo. Setup at that point was: A1200 motherboard rev 2B Blizzard 1230-IV/50MHz with 16MB RAM Quantum Fireball EL 5GB HDD Hitachi 4x CD-ROM drive |

This is an open source Amiga 2000 PCB in the EATX form factor. EATX is an ATX variant that defines larger PCBs, measuring 12 x 13 inches (305 × 330 mm). These are referred to as Extended ATX, or, EATX (see Enterprise Electronics Bay Specification). The length of Zorro II cards and the abundance of components on the Amiga 2000 makes EATX the best choice for this project. |

My power supply died again. It has been very unreliable for some reason (probably bad caps, or overload), so I finally decided to mod an ATX power supply for the 4K to give it more power and reliability. I based my mod on a mix of 2 other ATX mods: I took the PSU case mod part of this: http://mfilos.blogspot.com/2011/08/a4000-psu-mod.html and the ATX part of the mod from this: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=7593 which gets you the concoction that I came up below. It’s not too bad I think, other than the not-so-straight cut lines. I put links at the end of this post below so you can find everything that I bought for this mod easily. |

We are happy to invite Amiga game developers from around the world to develop some new games for the Amiga using Blitz Basic or AmiBlitz. The idea behind this jam is to grow the community and increase knowledge and awareness around Amiga and the use of Blitz Basic and AmiBlitz to create games. This means that all submitted games must include the source code so that beginner developers will have examples to study and learn from. Join us no matter your skill level - this game jam is a perfect opportunity to create your very first game, or a side project to your other development activities or a chance to create that game you've been carrying inside you for decades and always wanted to do! Three months of development time should be enough time to produce a playable game, even if you are completely new to Blitz Basic! |

This interface has a small 64 kB SRAM memory that is shared between an Amiga and a Raspberry Pi. The Amiga connects to the interface through the clock port. The A314 software has been adapted to this interface so that it is possible to run services such as a314fs and the SANA-II network driver. The software is available as the clockport_if branch in the a314 repository, which is added to this repository as a git submodule. |

Since a disk drive is by nature a moving part, it is inevitable that it will fail someday. The vast majority of Amiga computers out there are least a decade old (some are nearly 20 years old), and so many users have had the misfortune of their disk drives dying on them. Replacing them is difficult because while Amiga disk drives are for the most part electrically compatible with those used in the Wintels of today, there are slight but vital differences in terms of both signals and pinout. The problem stems mainly from the fact that Commodore used low-density drives throughout the Amiga line up until the Amiga 4000 and 3000T. (After that they made things even worse by switching to custom-made high-density drives that spun at half the speed of a normal high-density floppy drive.) In contrast, low-density drives were quickly phased out of use in the IBM world sometime around the mid-1980s and can be found on only the oldest of machines. The aim of this guide is to provide information on which disk drives will work or can be made to work in an Amiga. |
