So just over 10 years ago, I bought a new Amiga, the AmigaOne x1000. It had a lot of promises, to push the Amiga platform to the next generation of computing. Dual core support, 64bit, cpu and this weird custom chip, Xmos. It all sounded very exciting, os4 also got Firefox port at this time and other promised app like open office for kids was promised to be on the horizon. Amiga sounded like it had a chance of a return, so with much debate and thinking it seemed like it was now or never to try and support this mini comeback I would get myself an AmigaOne x1000. 10 years on did the promises match the dream. I wrote a review also 10 years ago’s, re-reading I put this in its summary section of the review |

The AmigaOS development blog contains articles written by the core AmigaOS 3.2 for 68k developers and friends. Our goal is to encourage and support your first steps into the fascinating realm of developing for the classic Amiga operating system. No matter if you just want to write a small tool, a little game or a a full-blown application - starting development can provide frustrating experiences, especially on a retro operating system. We'd like to remedy this by providing a series of articles, covering installation of development tools, programming examples, debugging war stories and other helpful tips. |

In the latest OSNews post by Thom Holwerda, he attacks the AmigaOS by saying “I find them convoluted, incomprehensible, and frustratingly difficult to use.” He then states that he is not here to ruin the Amiga community’s party. But he does! I am the editor of this Amitopia Amiga Magazine for many years and I am a daily user of AmigaOS. I love everything about it and at the same time, I use both macOS on my M1 Mac and Windows 10 on my i7 laptop. It is frustrating when Thom of such a respected site about various operating systems attacks AmigaOS like this. It is the exact phrases and words he uses that make many PC users get the extra fuel to spread untrue rumors about the Amiga computer. Quake or Doom will never work on Amiga? Amiga’s are too slow to run QuickTime? 3D accelerated graphics are impossible in AmigaOS? ... |

AmiSSL is the AmigaOS/MorphOS/AROS port of OpenSSL. It wraps the full functionality of OpenSSL into a full-fledged Amiga shared library that makes it possible for Amiga applications to use the full OpenSSL API through a standard Amiga shared library interface (e.g. web browsers wanting to support HTTPS, etc.)... Christie’s is honored to present Andy Warhol: Machine Made, a ground-breaking online auction of five unique NFTs (non-fungible tokens) of digital works created by Andy Warhol in the mid-1980s and recovered from obsolete floppy disks in 2014. Created in a paint program on Warhol’s Commodore Amiga personal computer in the mid-1980’s, the group of five works includes two self-portraits, his signature flower, and Campbell’s soup can motifs, and a rendering of a single banana on a blue background. |

Apollo is an experimental operating system for the Amiga 4000 computer with support for user and kernel space concurrency and reentracy. One aspect that sets it aside from traditional threading-based OSs is that it is purely built around dispatch queues similar to Apple's Grand Central Dispatch rather than threads. So there is no support for creating threads in user space nor in kernel space. Instead the kernel implements a virtual processor concept and it maintains a pool of virtual processors. |

Assets for an old mod made in around 1997/1998 for Alien Breed 3D 2, a game released for the Commodore Amiga 1200 and 4000 in 1996. The original version of the game required 4MB of Fast RAM. This mod likely requires more, but not more than 16MB. |

Australian Amiga Gazette (AAG) was created by me in 1996 as a grassroots, hard copy publication for the purpose of keeping the Amiga computer alive here in Australian. First produced in December 1996 and ending in October 98 which spanned 23 issues. AAG was created wholly on an Amiga 4000 using Amiga’s Page Stream publishing software and printed on a secondhand printing press that cost $2500. A black and white monthly magazine containing 40 pages of articles, product reviews and advertising available from computer shops that sold the Amiga here in Australia. This site archives for posterity the 23 issues of AAG in PDF format for download. It also seeks to acknowledge all those who contributed to its pages and the two AAG promotional events during its time. |
