Detailed History of the Amiga Starting in 1982 to 1996 |

Over the years I've hooked various analog to digital converters, of progressively faster speeds to my computer. The most recent advancement has been my experimentation with a low-cost 20MHz ADC, the Bt218KP-20, manufactured by Brooktree. This video digister project originally grew as an extension of the oscilloscope project described elsewhere on this site. |

HomeCINEMA is - yet another - video database for Amiga computers. Why did I code one? Just because I didn't find a database which fitted to my needs. Also many programs where buggy, expensive or too complicated to use. So I thought - Why not code one yourself? So HomeCINEMA was born… |

{{ARCHIVED}} If you install your Zip Drive following the recommended procedure you will not be able to boot from it. This is not a limitation of the drive itself, but rather a feature of the way HiSoft have decided to handle the problem of removable media on the Amiga. The Amiga has no Graphical Interface for mounting and unmounting Removable Media. This means that in order to mount an removable device on the workbench you must either use a public domain program such as SCSI-Probe, or use the command line to issue "mount" and "diskchange" commands. |

Amiga hardware finally shipping. If you're in the market for an Amiga box, today is a day for celebration. If you'd like an Amiga operating system to go with it, then perhaps you'd better leave the champagne on ice. EyeTech Group Ltd., which announced the commercial availability of the AmigaOne in March, announced the rerelease and update of the AmigaOne after the company's developers discovered problems in the company's custom chipset. Although the company now offers systems based upon the PowerPC 7451 processor used in the Apple Macintosh, systems still won't be available until "just before Christmas", the U.K.-based firm said. |

Friday, Jan 5, 2001. First off, I would like to thank Bill for spending his time answering my questions. I realize that very few CEO's would make themselves available to their customers, and I he deserves recognition for doing so. After reading the "I Bought a" thread and seeing all the rumours that were being discussed, I thought that it would be useful to the MooBunny community to have these rumours cleared up, at least as much as possible. To achieve this I decided to call Bill McEwen this evening and ask him directly. Following are questions that I asked, paraphrased responses, and some of my impressions and opinions. |

IBM unveiled an open standards based Linux/Java PDA reference design at LinuxWorld in New York this week. Based on the IBM PowerPC 405LP embedded processor, the reference design, dubbed the "embedded Linux application platform" (e-LAP), is intended to jump-start PDA manufacturers, who can use the design as is, or can modify it to meet their own PDA, electronic book, or "personal media device" requirements. |

Icon Poet is a writing toy for human/machine collaboration. You supply structure by clicking on a grid of grammatical terms, and the program supplies content through randomness. The texts that emerge are often enchantingly bizarre. Try it out at Icon Poet Online (requires a JavaScript-capable browser such as a recent version of Internet Explorer or Netscape, and a monitor set to 800x600). |

As we had to report in early January, the Aminet series of CDs was cancelled. So Aminet CD #52 will be the last one put together. This turn of events compelled us to ask a few questions of Urban Müller, the person who does the CDs and is also an Aminet administrator. |

This weekend was the official launch of a brand new platform, by Genesi. New platforms are rare these days, so this one is something to watch out for. MorphOS is a fully 32bit, pre-emptively multi-tasking operating system for the PowerPC range of CPUs, and is included with each Pegasos motherboard sold. We have some information about the system, three screenshots, and we also talked to Nicholas Blachford, Eclipsis project manager about MorphOS. |

Introducing MorphOS. MorphOS is the first successful attempt to run Commodore's A1200, A3000 and A4000's operating system on a PPC processor and improved systems free of legacy Commodore hardware. It's based around the Quark microkernel and runs the OS within an emulation box providing a fast 680x0 emulation. A fully PPC native exec replacement provides ways to write native PPC programs running into the emulation box in a mixed mode. For consistency, we'll call the Commodore system 'ABox' from now on. |
