The story of the Amiga cult classic Twintris
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4535
We spoke with developer Svein Berge, as well as another Svein Berge, about Twintris on the Amiga. In 1990, the German publisher Digital Marketing released an Amiga game called Twintris. It was essentially an attempt to recreate the legendary puzzle game Tetris, but specifically inspired by Atari’s arcade version of Tetris. As a result, much of the focus was on two players competing against each other simultaneously on a split screen.

The story of the Amiga Kickstart image
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3043
In 1985 the Amiga 1000 came to life. With it the Amiga Kickstart v1.0 and the Amiga Workbench v1.0 also came into our lives. All of us who´s been around an Amiga in the 80´s or the 90´s are familiar with the Amiga Kickstart logo (the left hand holding a disc) but are we all clear about why the disc is held in the left hand?

  The story of the Amiga Kickstart image {ARCHIVED 29 Oct 2020}
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5235
Why is the Kickstart disc in the left hand when the disc drive on the Amiga 1000 is on the right side? In 1985 the Amiga 1000 came to life. With it the Amiga Kickstart v1.0 and the Amiga Workbench v1.0 also came into our lives. All of us who´s been around an Amiga in the 80´s or the 90´s are familiar with the Amiga Kickstart logo (the left hand holding a disc) but are we all clear about why the disc is held in the left hand? Sheryl Knowles, the artist behind the Amiga Kickstart logo image, was right handed and when creating the logo itself she held the disc in her left hand drawing it with the right.

The Time Andy Warhol Tried an Amiga
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5601
Next month marks the 30th anniversary of Andy Warhol's death. He died eight days after Valentine's Day in 1987, at the age of 58. So it's a good time to look back at how one of the art icons of the 20th century first confronted the arrival of a genuinely new technology - the personal computer.

The triumph and tragedy of the Commodore Amiga
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3300
But can it play Doom? A question we all asked, repeatedly, throughout the early to mid-1990s. As Commodore’s Amiga had dragged itself, almost kicking and screaming, from the high-priced, productivity-focused world of workstations and onto desks of regular punters around Europe (‘the world’ would be pushing it), it felt like there was nothing this computer couldn’t do.

The Utterly Bizarre Commodore Gaming PC Case, from 2008
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5781
One company out of the UK back in 2007/2008 decided to try and actually bring back a computer with the Commodore brand that paid homage to its gaming history. In fact, they called themselves Commodore Gaming. It was just a Windows PC in Commodore clothing, but at least the clothes had some style. The idea went something like this.

  The Vampire V2 A500
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3584
I recently got the Vampire V2 working on my A500, the following is some of my learnings and musings. First, be aware that as far as Apollo are concerned the V2 is old news. They haven’t sold it for over two years, and are concentrating on the V4 line - I got one of the two last ones (the other is also in Brisbane) and it’s sat on my shelf until a week ago. It means you’re kind of on your own. There is a discord chat but I found it a waste of time, and there is a forum on the Apollo-computing page but to be honest it was easier to just figure everything out on my own. If you’ve set up a Pi or another Amiga by writing an image to a card you’ll probably be fine but do be aware some assistance may be needed if you haven’t done it before.

  The X500 Plus computer case
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3243
The X500 Plus is a computer case I designed as a tribute to the computers of the ’80s and ’90s and it’s overall inspired by the Commodore Amiga 500. It’s a wedge styled computer case with inbuilt, full size keyboard. The X500 Plus has a retro feeling but with modern, clean lines and lots of internal space. It’s made of aluminium, plastic and steel and it’s designed for modern computer hardware. The X500 Plus allows you to build your own modern, powerful computer, with your choice of components and Operating System like Windows, Linux, AmigaOS, AROS, MOS etc…you can use it for your mini-itx x86 motherboards, PowerPC boards such as the SAM motherboards by ACube, the Natami and the upcoming FPGAArcade Replay board, basically any board which is mini-itx or flex-atx format with low profile heat sinks (overall internal height is 52mm).

Along the way, I hope to shed some light on the potential power of this unique creation opportunity that A-EON has brought to its latest line of AmigaONE computers, and to demonstrate how you can utilize it to create your own software and/or hardware projects.
