Connecting to an Amiga over a serial port using NComm
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3046
I’ve been spending a fair amount of time with the local Commodore nerds restoring my A1200, A2000, and A4000 systems. We’ve also been developing a piece of hardware to connect classic machines via their Serial interface to modern systems called the GuruModem - but I’ll have a lot more about that in some other posts. In the mean time, I wanted to share how to move larger files without the use of physical or virtual floppies: the magic of NComm.

Converting a PC Floppy Drive to Amiga
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3221
I recently purchased an external floppy drive the for the Amiga which was sold as “untested”. Unfortunately “untested” in this case meant “doesn’t work and someone did a bad attempt at repairing it”. There were parts of the drive physically broken and it was beyond repair. I lucked out because unlike the Rotec drive I repaired in the past, this one uses a standard floppy connector inside. So, instead I decided to convert a PC floppy drive to work in the case.

  Converting all my Amiga Disks..
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3223
The time has come to finally get rid of all my 3.5"DD floppy disks.. they are taking up valuable cupboard space that I need back for shinier and more recent items. I know that some of them have data on that I'd like to keep, source I wrote back in the late 80's / early 90's.. midi files, soundtracker / octamed tunes.. The problem is figuring out which disks..

Converting the “Competition Pro Extra USB” to C64/Amiga/Atari DB9
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3233
Speedlink makes several versions of the Competition Pro joystick that have all the physical properties and the excellent switches of the original Competition Pro, but come with a USB interface. All versions of this joystick can be easily converted into an old-school DB9 joystick to work with Commodore, Amiga and Atari computers and consoles – optionally without giving up the USB interface!

Copy Protection Used on Commodore Amiga Computers
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4817
Background. The Amiga floppy controller is unusually flexible since it is implemented in the custom chips of the Amiga itself. It can read and write raw bit sequences directly from and to the disk via DMA or programmed I/O at 500 (double density) or 250 kbit/s (single density or GCR)... CopyLock - Rob Northen Computing

There's a lovely device called a pistorm, an adapter board that glues a Raspberry Pi GPIO bus to a Motorola 68000 bus. The intended use case is that you plug it into a 68000 device and then run an emulator that reads instructions from hardware (ROM or RAM) and emulates them. You're still limited by the ~7MHz bus that the hardware is running at, but you can run the instructions as fast as you want.

  COSA Reaction to Amino Purchase of Amiga Rights {ARCHIVED 22 Oct 2000}
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5581
January 2, 2000. Within the past few days, ownership of the Amiga rights, trademarks and technology passed from Gateway to Amino Development. People have asked for COSA's opinion on the sale, and for comments how this affects the campaign to open-source the AmigaOS. We believe the sale of Amiga to Amino is a good, positive step forward for the Amiga community, and that the new owners of the Amiga technology rights are the right people to steer the Amiga technology into the new millennium.

Could an Amiga mini be coming?
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 2567
With the resurgance of retro gaming hardware enabling us to play old classics on big TV's with lots of built in games such as the NES Mini, SNES Mini, Playstation 1 Classic, NEO GEO Mini,PC Engine Mini and the C64 Mini you'd be forgiven in thinking there wasn't much else to get excited with all the mini's being announced. Well The C64 crew have something to shout about and in a pretty big way, as today they have teased what looks to be an Amiga mini coming 2021 from RetroGames Ltd!
