  Amiga North Thames
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5165
Amiga North Thames is a computer user group, based in North East London (uk) which was started back in January 1999. We are a dedicated bunch of enthusiasts who fondly remember the computer that history forgot, the Amiga range of Computers originally built by Commodore International. Despite Commodore's death, the Amiga continues to survive even with the many changes of ownership. Now after many years of legal wrangling, the future of the AmigaOS is in good hands once more and moving forward.

Amiga Now Includes HDMI By Way Of A Raspberry Pi Daughterboard
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3121
If you had an Amiga during the 16-bit home computer era it’s possible that alongside the games and a bit of audio sampling you had selected it because of its impressive video capabilities. In its heyday the Amiga produced broadcast-quality graphics that could even be seen on more than a few TV shows from the late 1980s and early 1990s. It’s fair to say though that the world of TV has moved on since the era of Guru Meditation, and an SD video signal just won’t cut it anymore. With HDMI as today’s connectivity standard, [c0pperdragon] is here to help by way of a handy HDMI upgrade that taps into the digital signals direct from the Amiga’s Denise chip.

Amiga on MTV: "Shades" by House Of Usher (1992)
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5751
Another nice example of how the Amiga was used as a low-cost video production workhorse. According to an article in a 1993 issue of "Amiga Kickstart" magazine (see links below), the music video for House Of Usher's techno track "Shades" was created on an Amiga 500+, using DeluxePaint IV. And you don't need glasses to immediately recognize somehow familiar colors and shapes. This looks very much like a production from the Amiga demo scene, only the sound quality is better, and the animation clips are more random.

  Amiga OutRun
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5415
What Is This? An optimized port of SEGA's 1986 arcade game OutRun, utilizing the original 68000 assembly code, to mid-spec Commodore Amiga computers. Whilst small compromises have been made to accommodate differences between the arcade hardware and the Amiga - this looks and plays almost identical to the original. This is not an emulator. Nor is it based on Cannonball, MAME, or any existing project. It is a ground up rewrite in assembler, with a focus on performance.

  Amiga pixel art
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5079
I remember Amiga games looked pretty great back in the day. Some still do, if seen on real hardware. Pixel artists adapted their art for an environment with specific video out signal processing, CRT scanlines, gamma and ghosting. Using an emulator, certain scroll text movements, copper gradients, or frame flicker tricks will look harsh and skippy. The gamma might be way off, judging by the peculiar black-points I'm seeing coming out of a lot of emulated old hardware, in particular MAME.

Amiga Power Stick: Uncommon and affordable
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4185
Before the Amiga was a computer, Amiga was a struggling independent company trying to stay in business so it would get its chance at changing the world. In order to make ends meet while they developed their multitasking computer, Amiga produced and sold joysticks for the game systems and computers that were already on the market. It was called the Amiga Power Stick. These joysticks turn up on Ebay fairly frequently. The going rate on them tends to be between $10-$15.
