  Max Toy, embattled Commodore president
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5525
  Commodore went through a revolving door of executives after Jack Tramiel resigned due to conflicts with Irving Gould. On October 6, 1987, it was Max Toy’s turn. On that day, Commodore hired him. And for a while, it seemed like Max Toy might be the one to turn the company around. In this blog post, we’ll explore what was different, and what wasn’t so different about him.

  Mechanical Replacement Keyboard for Amiga 500 and 1200
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5414
  Many years ago I got an Amiga 500 with missing keyboard. Since then original keyboards became so expensive, that custom mechanical keyboards can be built for the price of an original. Unfortunately, Amiga-style Cherry MX keycaps are unavailable, so I used DSA profile blank keycaps. As 9 unit space is rare, I used a 7 unit instead.

  Mediathek
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3760
  Mediathek is a software for downloading Movies from different public (german speaking) TV-stations (ARD, ZDF, 3Sat, WDR...). It is based on the program MediathekView, which is available for Windows/Linux/Macos, und uses the same database. But in contrast to them, Mediathek on Amiga uses its own SQL-server, what gives some speedups and more filteroptions.

  I found the thumbnail biography of one Mehdi Ali recently. It reads, in part: “His prior experience includes serving as the President of Commodore International, where he accomplished a major operational turnaround.” I don’t think he and I share the same definition of “major operational turnaround.”

  Memories of a Software Rental Shop
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5502
  {...} I’ve rented hundreds of videotapes and DVDs over the years from many different shops ranging from tiny mom & pops establishments to Blockbuster. But the rental store I enjoyed most was a family-run place called Family Video & Computer Center at the Hilton Shopping Center in Newport News, Virginia. What made that place special to me was that, in addition to movies, they also rented computer software.

  Memphis Amiga Group (MAG) and Memphis Commodore Users Club (MCUC) History {ARCHIVED 23 Mar 2023}
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3578
  This is a collection of scanned and transcribed newsletters and disk magazines from the Memphis Amiga Group, as well as newsletters from its predecessor, the Memphis Commodore Users Club. The Memphis Commodore Users Club (or Users Group, MCUG) started in the early 80s and lasted until the early to mid 90s. It spawned the Memphis Amiga Group (MAG) as a SIG in the late 80s. MAG operated from the late 80s to the late 90s. Commodore's demise in 1994 took the wind out of the group, and after a few more years it faded out of existence.

  The Amiga Transputer was proposed by Tim King (who had previously ported TripOS to the 68k) and several others at Metacomco. The company had developed the custom OS, Helios to interact with the host operating system. The project was demonstrated at several Commodore Amiga shows, but the company never bought the technology. It was later sold as the Atari Transputer.

  Metal Gear – Amiga Port
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 2928
  Originally released in 1987 for the MSX2, Metal Gear became an instant classic. Designed by the legendary Hideo Kojima, it spawned a huge franchise in stealth gameplay and is considered one of the top games from the platform. While there are ports for the NES, Spectrum and C64 they were missing a lot of the key details from the original game. An Amiga version was once advertised in a magazine but sadly was consigned to myth and legend. That is until now.
