NEWS: Blaze Entertainment Announces Partnership With Amiga
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3253
Blaze Entertainment is delighted to confirm a partnership with Amiga to bring Amiga games to Evercade systems as part of the new Home Computer Collection line. As confirmed this past weekend exclusively to fans at the Amiga 37 event in Germany, Evercade devices will be able to play games developed for the world-famous home computer system. Blaze Entertainment will be able to license and publish Amiga games from multiple publishers for Evercade. At this time there is no public confirmation of which games and publishers will feature in Evercade’s quickly expanding home computer lineup, but work is already underway to bring high-quality Amiga games to Evercade in 2023 and beyond.

John Girvin is a Respawned 80s Game Developer who decided to misspend some more time in much the same way as he misspent much of his youth: making games. After some time spent wandering, lost in the bleak post-Amiga wilderness, in 2014 John finally released a 21st century update for one of those old Amiga games, under the banner of Six Echo Studios.

No Man's Sky as a Commodore Amiga slideshow
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4088
No Man's Sky is a beautiful game of interstellar exploration: something about its epic psychedelic wonder stays with you even after you've internalized its procedural patterns. Blake Patterson wanted to see how well a classic Amiga 1000 would render some of its scenery. Granted, an Amiga isn't going to counting frames by the second, but it was the first machine to offer thousands of colors on-screen at once and its peculiar pallete trickery gives NMS an even weirder look.

No, the limits of HAM have not vanished!
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5126
We had already spoken in some detail about the Amiga’s HAM mode in an article a few months ago (sorry, it’s in Italian. But you can easily translate it with DeepL, Bing, Google, etc.), dissecting (especially from a technical point of view) all the problems that beset it and, therefore, the reasons why it was rarely used, relegating it mostly to displaying static images or movies/animations.

Nordlicht is an established demoparty created by the people who heavily draw their inspiration from many other traditional demoparties, with a focus on bringing joy and fun to those we love and to help spread the word of the Demoscene in modern times. It is a place for creative minds to share their ideas, stories and projects with a likeminded audience. Anyone with an interest in digital art, music or real-time coding, even animation and film-making will feel right at home in the Demoscene and thus at Nordlicht!

  NostalgicPlayer
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3622
Modules are relatively small files which contains various sound samples and information on how they should be played. This way of making music goes a long way back, and even at the time of the Commodore 64 the concept was used. But it was on the Amiga computer it really started off. The original type of modules were made with a program called SoundTracker, but since then a lot of different module types have shown up, all of them offering different features - such as more sound channels, more samples, realtime echo and so on. NostalgicPlayer is a program that can play these modules. NostalgicPlayer is a Windows version of the APlayer, which was started on the Amiga computer back in 1993, later continued on BeOS, and was a reaction to the lack of good module players for the Amiga.

Now That Commodore Is Back, Could Amiga Be Next?
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5444
Now that Commodore has arisen from the depths of obscurity like Cthulhu awoken from R’lyeh, the question on every shoggoth’s squamose lips is this: “Will there be a new Commodore Amiga?” The New Commodore is reportedly interested, but as [The Retro Shack] reports in the video embedded below, it might be some time before the stars align.

  OCCS
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4118
The Open Source Scan Converter is a low-latency video digitizer and scan converter designed primarily for connecting retro video game consoles and home computers to modern displays. It converts analog RGB or component video signals into a digital format, and doubles (or triples) the scanlines of a single frame if necessary to generate a valid mode for digital TVs or monitors. The board and firmware originated as a homebrew project in 2015. The primary goal of the OSSC project was to create a scan converter with minimal latency and reasonable cost, which could also be assembled by hand. Output image quality and features have also been important targets as long as they didn't contradict with the project's primary goals. Due to interest in the retro gaming community, both DIY kits and pre-assembled boards were first released to the public during early 2016. The firmware of the system is open source (hence the name) and new features can be added as time goes on. If you're new to the OSSC and scalers/processors in general, you may wish to start with the quick start guide here. There's now also an excellent getting started video tutorial, kindly created by RetroRGB, that you can view here.

  Octamed SoundStudio V8 Announcement
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5726
Popular Tracker gets first update for 25 years {...} After 25 years, OctaMED is coming out with version 8 and looks set to be a commercial entity once more. Why though? The Amiga, technically a "dead" platform, a "hobbyist" machine, has seen a growing profile since COVID. During the long hard months, people sought to "return to childhood" and vintage computers sales soared.

Off-Axis Rotation For Amiga-Themed Levitating Lamp
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5192
Do you remember those levitating lamps that were all the rage some years ago? Floating light bulbs, globes, you name it. After the initial craze of expensive desk toys, a wave of cheap kits became available from the usual suspects. [RobSmithDev] wanted to make a commemorative lamp for the Amiga’s 40th anniversary, but… it was missing something. Sure, the levitating red-and-white “boing” ball looked good, but in the famous demo, the ball is spinning at a jaunty angle. You can’t do that with mag-lev… not without a hack, anyway.
