Being able to write code on any system for AmigaOS 4, and test it easily, is the main topic for this post. I will try to describe below what are the available tools and how this can be done with the easiest, in my opinion, way. Of course, what I propose here is not the only way to do things, but this is my way. And this post covers only code that is written in C or C++. For other programming languages, a different approach may be necessary, although some parts might be the same. |

Why? Some old computers are limited to 16-bit PCMCIA slots, such as the Amiga A600 and A1200 systems. This restricts them to 802.11b WiFi cards which used the initial WEP (RC4) security standard. {...} This makes Prism2 based cards quite useful since most current access points will still support 802.11b radios provided they match the configured security requirements. There is a catch for Amiga users though - the card firmware cannot be updated using an Amiga. And 20+ year old PC laptops with 16-bit compatible PCMCIA controllers are not so common any more, making this upgrade quite a challenge. |

Amiga Iff to Bitplane converter. Converts ILBM (IFF) files to raw (interleaved) bitplane format for use in Amiga applications. It assumes the input file is a valid ILBM file and does not perform extensive error checking. |

David Morse, Amiga Computer's co-founder passed away last week. I will remember him always. Dave, was always an inspiration to me... not only from back in the old Amiga days, but in the early days of NTG (3DO), Interactive Partners, and VideoStream, the company we built together. Then, in more recent years, his interest and contribution to my vision of REBOL and IOS. |

{...} Then came the Video Toaster 4000. Powered by a Commodore Amiga, it revolutionized the field of cheesy transition FX and crappy word art graphics. To announce the new product, Team Toaster released this infomercial featuring celebrity testimonials from pro skater Tony Hawk, magician Penn Jillette, and sentient mayonnaise smeared on white bread Wil Wheaton. It was impossible to watch this short and not think to yourself “That cost how many thousands of dollars??” Still, it looks better than 85% of the movies we cover at RiffTrax. |
