This guide only covers the automatic detection of settings; there will be a further guide for setting up manually should you encounter a problem. This guide also assumes you have basic knowledge of navigating your way around the Workbench and have the facility to transfer files to your Amiga.

Settlers 2 and Blok for Amiga in 2025
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5237
I remember when the original Settlers was released on Amiga in 1993. I was living in Alice Springs at the time, and buying most new release Amiga titles was impossible there. So I never got to play it. {...} Thanks to the efforts of some amazing coders, and using some of the more recent tools like AGABlaster for CDXL conversion of the videos included in the original, we have a version for Amiga that works on classic Amiga 030/040/060 as well as AmigaOS4 based PowerPC systems.

Shadow of the 16-bit Beast: an Amiga gaming retrospective
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3285
The Amiga was born a game machine, but it entered a world where the video game industry was well-established and changing rapidly. Long gone were the days where a lone coder would stay up all night in his basement for six weeks and bang out a hit for the Atari 2600. Even the younger and smaller computer game industry had moved far beyond Roberta Williams putting floppy disks into ziplock bags and answering phone calls from players in her kitchen. The success of the Commodore 64 (and on the other side of the pond, the Sinclair Spectrum) meant that more money was available for computer game development, and it was a good thing too, as the more powerful 16-bit machines were starting to seriously test the limits of a one-man development team.

  Should Amiga Be Resurrected
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4378
Based on research, Lenovo is the most popular computer brand in 2022, with 17.11 million personal computers sold within the third quarter. But long before Lenovo came into the picture, there was Amiga, which competed with IBM and Apple during the mid-80s. The name is a Spanish word meaning a female friend. It was chosen to bring home the message that the computer is user-friendly.

  Siamese PCI {ARCHIVED 10 Feb 2005}
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4069
Siamese PCI. Developer: Index Information. Year of Announcement: 1997. The Siamese PCI was a new Amiga designed to fulfill different gaps in the market. While the BoXeR was aimed purely at Amiga users, the Siamese PCI is designed for Amiga users who also have a PC and cannot justify a whole new computer. It played a similar function as the Amiga bridgeboard but in reverse- the Amiga hardware was located on a PCI and could be used from within the host environment. If released, the card would have utilized a Motorola 68040 33MHz or 68060 66MHz CPU. The use of modern hardware would remove existing bottlenecks- all calculations would have been handled by the host machine, theoretically making it the equivalent of an 68k 100MHz system. Current Amiga technology such as the AGA chipset, 2Mb Chip Ram, CIA's, floppy & IDE connectors would also have been included.

  Sidecar Restauration, Part 1
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5052
I was lucky and got hand on a Commodore A1060 "Sidecar". This first part is about the teardown of the Sidecar, and the damage assessment. But what is a Sidecar? When Commodore released the Amiga 1000, its graphics and sound capabilities were unmatched in that price range. However, because the machine was based on the Motorola 68000 processor, users were unable to run existing MS-DOS software on the machine.

Sign in The Greatest Video Game Tech Demo Ever
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5871
{youtube} Shadow of the Beast was a groundbreaking achievement in video games. In 1989 the concept of multi-layer parallax scrolling, and 120+ colors on screen running on a stock Amiga at 7mhz was unheard of. And yet Psygnosis and Reflections made it possible. As a game - Shadow of the Beast was a disappointment, but as a tech demo? It's one of the greatest ever made. In this episode we take a deep dive into the graphics of Shadow of the Beast.

  Simulated Evolution for the Amiga
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4827
The Amiga port of Simulated Evolution is done. This started out as a one-shot project—taking a project specification from Scientific American‘s old “Computer Recreations” column and putting it through its paces with the full power that the 21st century had to offer—but it ended up inspiring a bit of extra work as well.

  SkidMarks, Amiga Review
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5736
Skidmarks for the Amiga was a revolutionary game, both in terms of it’s isometric view point and the fact it was written in Blitz BASIC. It offered unique graphics with seemingly 3D vehicles on a carefully textured track (which just happened to retain the skidmarks you made on it, even after exiting the course).

SLOW-SELLING COMMODORE AMIGA TRIES FOR BETTER IBM COMPATIBILITY
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4247
Many people want a home computer for fun, and the Amiga is unsurpassed as a games machine. Many now also want a machine that will allow them to bring work home. IBM and its compatibles dominate the business world -- the Amiga doesn't even use the same microprocessor as the IBM. But there is already a program for current versions of the Amiga called The Transformer, which brings to the computer's screen the familiar A prompt, the hallmark of the IBM PC and its clones. With this software, the Amiga becomes largely compatible with the IBM, although it runs a bit slower and cannot do graphics.

SmallyMouse2 – Universal USB to Quadrature Mouse Adapter
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 3606
SmallyMouse2 is a universal USB to quadrature mouse adapter for many 8-bit and 16-bit retro computers and allows the use of modern USB mice on machines such as the Acorn BBC Micro, Acorn Master, Acorn Archimedes, Commodore Amiga, Atari ST and many more. Unlike most existing mouse adapters, SmallyMouse2 implements a fully USB compatible interface (most current adaptors are PS/2 based) this allows the use of any modern mouse including those that use wireless communications.

  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4307
Welcome to the Smart Filesystem website! SFS is a new Amiga filesystem. Take a look at What's New on these pages. SFS will be a new filesystem for your Amiga. SFS was designed from scratch and during its development we've looked at a lot of other filesystems around to try and combine the best features of all of these filesystems into SFS. Currently SFS is already very functional and it is already being tested by a few people.
