In an office in the city of Santa Clara California, 1984, a team of designers worked feverishly on a custom chipped computer built around the Motorola 68000 processor. Many may know the story of how Jay Miner, Dave Needle, R.J. Mical, Dave Morse, and perhaps even Mitchy the Dog came together to create one of the most legendary single computer models of all time, the Amiga. Often neglected in this story telling is another legendary designer, Bruce Artwick. According to Computer Gaming World, Artwick had been plucked away from SubLogic's Illinois offices and was working just as frantically on the Amiga as any other on that team, though with a slightly different goal in mind. |

The OpenFlops drive is an improvement on the Gotek design with extra features and easily accessible placement of header pins and connections for popular addons and mods such as OLED display, rotary encoder and "floppy disk noise" speakers. Fully plug and play and compatible as a complete Gotek upgrade or replacement. OpenFlops is an Open Hardware implementation of a floppy disk emulator, inspired from the ubiquitous Gotek hardware. It is designed to run the FlashFloppy firmware, which gives it several improvements over the original Gotek. |

This project started in 2015. I had 300 floppy disks that I kept from my Amiga 500 and Amiga 1200 period. I planned to buy a second hand Amiga after I sold them for a new PC. That of course didn't happen. The data stored on the floppy disks was mostly my personal files, videos, music modules, painted pictures, 3D objects and renderings etc. And a complete backup of my system and data files. I wanted to reconstruct the files that I used to have. However, the Amiga disk format is not something any PC could read, at least not in Windows in a simple way. The disks were in a poor state with fungus and dust. So I set out to clean them. The 3D printable Floppy cleaning kit was a result of this. |

Converts PC floppy drive interface to Amiga/Shugart bus interface. Now also supports the Atari ST/TT. Only supports Double Density (DD) disks but works with an HD drive in DD mode. The native files in EagleCAD format are included. The Zip file contains the Gerber data |

The FluxEngine is a very cheap USB floppy disk interface capable of reading and writing exotic non-PC floppy disk formats. It allows you to use a conventional PC drive to accept Amiga disks, CLV Macintosh disks, bizarre 128-sector CP/M disks, and other weird and bizarre formats. (Although not all of these are supported yet. I could really use samples.) |

You may have previously seen the IDE Adapters that I'd built for my Amiga 500 over here (internal) and here (external). Whilst they worked very well with FAT32 drives attached, I had no end of trouble trying to work out how to partition, format and mount as a native Amiga disk. For everything below, you'll want to use this bootdisk. |

AlphaPixel often gets called upon to work on legacy codebases, sometimes VERY legacy. We have contact with code from the 80s and 90s on a regular basis, in a variety of dialects and languages, and stored and archived in various difficult containers and mediums. |

This project is a continuation of the Book-E QorIQ support enhancements by Semihalf dating back to 2012. The AmigaOne X5000 series of AmigaOS-compatible systems uses the Freescale QorIQ series of SoCs for a desktop-class form factor. The work here entails adding support for the e5500 core itself, in addition to support for the SoC peripherals. |

Finally Version 3.2.0 of FreePascal is released. This is the first final release contains the Amiga style systems fully usable. A while before I did some extra work to also create an Amiga-sytle installer, which will be also released with this. Today I will also release the 3.2.0 FreePascal packages for Amiga 68k, Amiga OS4, AROS for ARM, AROS for i386 and MorphOS. So basically all versions except AROS for x86_64 because that’s still too unstable to use (mainly the AROS 64 bit is still a moving target and I was not able to fix that, because AROS is simply not working after the last changes and my last questions about it got just ignored) |

This is the FAQ for the alt.emulators.amiga newsgroup. alt.emulators.amiga is a newsgroup for discussion about software that emulates the Amiga computer on any platform. The FAQ attempts to answer most common questions appearing in the newsgroup. The most common of these is how to get a copy of the Amiga operating system or how to transfer the OS and other software from an Amiga to another platform, so this is what we'll focus on. |
