So what am I doing here? The answer is that I want to make a brand new blog, a blog that only focuses on AmigaOS 4 and gaming. I will of course include some general AmigaOS 4 news now and then as well. |

It appears that the generally accepted “best” way to play Amiga games these days is via WHDLoad on an Amiga 1200 (either emulated or real hardware) expanded to oblivion with a turbo card and lots of extra RAM. I disagree with this notion for a number of important reasons: It’s suboptimal {...} It’s inauthentic {... &} It’s unnecessary |

Gateway managed to possess the Amiga for twice the time of the previous owner, yet did nothing with it. After buying Amiga Technologies in 1997 from the remains of Escom they set about developing a new system based upon the Amiga philosophy of simplicity and efficiency, coupled with close ties to digital TV technology. |

Amiga pulled from the ashes of bankrupt ESCOM. After what sometimes seemed like an infinite delay, the latest chapter in the Amiga saga has finally come to an end, or perhaps more accurately, a transition. Gateway 2000, a major US PC manufacturer, has made an offer to acquire the assets of Amiga Technologies, and the future, if nothing else, is wide open. For any who may not have seen it, here, once again, unaltered, is the press release from March 27th, 1997. |

Gateway 2000 (GATE) today announced plans to acquire former multimedia leader and currently bankrupt Amiga Technologies. Gateway believes the acquisition of the German company, an early groundbreaker in multimedia technology, combining computer graphics, animation, and film sequences with stereo sound, will bolster its position with intellectual property and improve its stake in emerging technologies, while rescuing the company from liquidation. |

The GBAPII ++ is a ZorroII card featuring the fast Cirrus GD5434 graphics chip and 2MB of video-ram. An automatic monitor switch between an external VGA source (eg flicker fixer) and the RTG graphics is integrated. Compared to a PicassoII + board this card 76% faster on a A2630 on the important RectFill () – function in P96-Speed. Further performance results can be seen here. |

Later new Amiga compatible systems came and effected my daily computer usage. This also had an effect on Geit.de and the stuff I provided. In the beginning I used Amithlon on a Pentium3 with AmigaOS 3.9, while today I am using the Pegasos2 G4 1Ghz with MorphOS. The Pegasos system was also used as fallback webserver, when Geit.de was offline for some reason. Over the years Geit.de got tweaked and enlarged. I introduced the hardware section where I present my computer systems. Especially the home made hardware stuff was always loved by the Geit.de visitors. At least that is what I got from the access logs and the feedback. |

AmiGemini is a browser for AmigaOS that supports the Gemini protocol. Gemini is sort of another http network which is called Gemini. It is heavier than gopher but lighter than the web we all know today. I have been using AmiGemini since the first release and it is therefore very cool to see active development of it. |

One feature that space does not allow for now is the ability to have software control of pixel switch disable. Now this is done with a mechanical switch. Pixel switch disable allows the user to completely ignore background video, yet have the Amiga computer genlocked. This eliminates the problem of software having to be written with genlock in mind. |

What can you expect from the GAP? The podcast focuses on Amiga computers and the AmigaOS, both the "classic" from 3.1 and "NextGen" with the AmigaOS 4.1. A well upgraded Amiga 1200 and an AmigaOne X5000 are available for testing. |

Stop getting tricked by people! Amiga is not a 16-bit computer. It is a 32-bit computer as AmigaOS is 32-bit. Amiga is not an 8-bit sound computer. It is a 14-bit audio-capable computer which means that all Classic Amiga computers are able to play 14-bit audio. To get 14-bit Audio on any Classic Amiga. You don’t need AHI and you don’t need to hack it. The 14-bit possibility is a feature of the Amiga hardware. So, let’s make a deal? Stop saying that Amiga audio is 8-bit because the true fact is that it is 14-bit. It means that Paula can produce “almost” CD-quality audio. You will also get rid of the Paula noise too. |

Do you own a game that you can't get to work on your superpowered turbocharged Amy? Hopefully this page will get that game working for you! If however you have some knowledge about getting awkward games to work on various flavours of Amiga or if you've got a game to work that isn't on this list then I be pleased to hear from you. The major contributors to this page so far can be found at the foot of this page. |

In this guide I’m going to document how I got my Amiga A1200 online. I’ll cover installing a network card and configuring a TCP/IP Stack. I’ll also cover installing a Web browser and email program and maybe a few other bits and bobs too. |

Been a while since I started a thread over at amigans/ amigaworld.net over concerns of CPU temp and noisy CPU fan that came standard with my X1000 but luckily mainly due to a new great custom solution for our X1K's from Marcus Computer called MagmaBreath my problems have been solved :-) The installation is clear and straight forward as noted below. You'll need 45 minutes, basic tools and a clear workspace: |
