NetBSD/amiga is the port of NetBSD to the Amiga line of personal computers by Commodore and Amiga International and to the DraCo by MacroSystem GmbH. Development activity on NetBSD/amiga continues at a speed dependent on people's spare time. Currently, NetBSD/amiga runs on any Amiga [1] that has a Motorola 68020 or better CPU with some form of MMU, and on 68060 DraCos. For 68020 and 68030 systems, a FPU is recommended but not required. 68LC040, 68040V and 68LC060 systems don't work correctly at the moment. |

It's no secret that I love making music on the Amiga. I've recently made videos on the native Amiga soundchip, realtime Amiga guitar effects and even exotic Amiga soundcards, not to mention an EP of Amiga-based music, so today's news of a new Amiga sound card interested me greatly. AmiGUS, a Zorro II-based card (for so-called big box Amigas) features an updateable FPGA core, 24-bit Audio, 32 channels of PCM sound, hardware ADSR envelopes and crucially - an open hardware approach. My complete speculation, is that open-sourcing things means that versions for the popular wedge-shaped Amigas might be a possibility. |

For any Amiga 4000 hobbyists running a Linux m68k operating system, a PCI driver was finally published three decades later for Linux. Patches posted for mainline Linux kernel review today enable the Mediator 4000 PCI bridge available for the Amiga 4000 computer from the early 90's. |

In-development indie FPS Grind offers almost everything about Doom that was groundbreaking for the time: variable ceiling height, sector-based lighting, outdoor areas, angled wall geometry, and smooth full-screen rendering. Most impressively, it can do it on an original Amiga 500, released in 1987. |

New lore on “New Topaz” has dropped, i. e. the modernized sans-serif system font used in AmigaOS 2.0 and later. During the “Inside Commodore Amiga’s History” discussion panel at VCF East 2025, ex-Commodore software engineer Peter Cherna talked a bit about the overall new look introduced in 2.0 (still called 1.4 when he started), and the new Topaz font in particular: |

John Girvin is a Respawned 80s Game Developer who decided to misspend some more time in much the same way as he misspent much of his youth: making games. After some time spent wandering, lost in the bleak post-Amiga wilderness, in 2014 John finally released a 21st century update for one of those old Amiga games, under the banner of Six Echo Studios. |

Now that Commodore has arisen from the depths of obscurity like Cthulhu awoken from R’lyeh, the question on every shoggoth’s squamose lips is this: “Will there be a new Commodore Amiga?” The New Commodore is reportedly interested, but as [The Retro Shack] reports in the video embedded below, it might be some time before the stars align. |

Popular Tracker gets first update for 25 years {...} After 25 years, OctaMED is coming out with version 8 and looks set to be a commercial entity once more. Why though? The Amiga, technically a "dead" platform, a "hobbyist" machine, has seen a growing profile since COVID. During the long hard months, people sought to "return to childhood" and vintage computers sales soared. |

Do you remember those levitating lamps that were all the rage some years ago? Floating light bulbs, globes, you name it. After the initial craze of expensive desk toys, a wave of cheap kits became available from the usual suspects. [RobSmithDev] wanted to make a commemorative lamp for the Amiga’s 40th anniversary, but… it was missing something. Sure, the levitating red-and-white “boing” ball looked good, but in the famous demo, the ball is spinning at a jaunty angle. You can’t do that with mag-lev… not without a hack, anyway. |

For those Amiga users who have owned an Amiga back in the 1980's, you would be very familiar with the original Workbench 1.2 and Workbench 1.3, as AmigaOS was then called. {...} Let's take a brief diversion to explain the versions of Workbench/AmigaOS, as it is relevant to Old Blue Workbench build that is the focus of this blog post. |

(Commodore's A2386 386SX Bridgeboard) (Hardware Review) COMPUTE! ISSUE 146 / NOVEMBER 1992 / PAGE A12. Ever since the Transformer program was released for the Amiga 1000, the Amiga has been able to effectively run MS-DOS software, although with varying degrees of integration between Amiga and PC software. Now, as the MS-DOS world eagerly awaits the first successor to the 486, Commodore has finally unleashed the A2386, a 386SX Bridgeboard. |

Probably all Amiga owners have seen the guru at one time or another. It is analogous to the Blue Screen Of Death in Microsoft Windows, and later used as an error message elsewhere, such as Varnish, a reverse proxy and HTTP accelerator, and VirtualBox, a Hypervisor environment. But what does it really mean for your computer friend? |

The Commodore Amiga computer had a famous ‘bouncing ball’ demonstration program, a checkered bouncing ball. It was a bit different than this, but this is certainly reminiscent of it. We love the Amiga demo so much that we created a special checkered ball primitive, AMIGABALL, and a second ‘oid’ primitive, AMIGABALLOID, which is used to create the ‘compressed’ ball. Rather than turning the turtle into a ball (one method), this method ‘cleans’ the ‘turtle track’ after rendering each frame of the animation (which we wait for using the NEXTFRAME primitive). |

A very early Amiga computer prototype was on public display at VCF West 2025 last weekend, as part of the wider Amiga 40th anniversary celebrations going on this year. On a white desk backed by a red curtain, you can see an unsightly collection of PCBs, chips, and wires that would soon blossom to become the most sought-after 16-bit multimedia home computer of the era. |
