The PowerPC adventure—by far the most exotic release of OS/2. In December 1995, after unexpectedly long development (but is that really unexpected?), IBM finally “shipped” OS/2 Warp, PowerPC edition. For brevity, this release will be further referred to as OS/2 PPC. Following years of hype and high expectation, the release was very low key and in fact marked the end of development of OS/2 for PowerPC. |

PAULA 3.0 is a Max for Live sampler that dynamically alters the sample rate based on the note played. PAULA was initially built to emulate the resampling behaviour of ProTracker 2 running on a Commodore Amiga 1200. As of version 3.0, PAULA has been fully integrated with Ableton Live’s Simpler device and includes major improvements, new features and bug fixes, including automatable Ableton warping / time stretching |

COMMODORE'S new Amiga A1000 computer was unveiled at Lincoln Center last week amid flashing lasers, rip-snorting jazz, rented tuxedos and rented celebrities, including Andy Warhol, who was there to bestow the first 15 minutes of fame on the machine. Yet even surrounded by all the glitter, the Amiga stood out clearly as the evening's star performer. |

Dale Luck from the original Amiga development team has preserved the very first Amiga prototype, which used three huge stacks of well-equipped breadboards instead of custom chips. The computer was on display in Germany for the first time last weekend at the Amiga 40 event. Amiga user ‘Pittrock’ took pictures of the exhibit and kindly gave us permission to publish them here. |

A few months ago, I stumbled upon a cheap Amiga 500, and I couldn’t resist. I decided to restore it from the ground up and add a GottaGoFast RAM + IDE controller to finally build what would have been my dream machine in 1990: an Amiga running OS 1.3 with fast RAM! |

This is a non-functional prototype of the PIOS One personal computer, main board and single-processor CPU module. So back in 1995, I was brought in to Amiga Technologies to consult with their management on the future of Amiga. We agreed that it was possible to design a PowerPC-based Amiga of some sort, and to port the operating system to a HAL-based, CPU-independent code base. This was actually happening. And then ESCOM got into trouble by overextending themselves, and it ended. |

{...} In this guide, I’ll do my best to navigate you through the process of getting a fully sorted Raspberry OS and Workbench installation that includes all (hopefully) the standout features of PiStorm including the PiDisk, Networking and RTG. |

IMPORTANT NOTE: This guide is made for the BUSTER version of the Rapsberry Pi OS. The necessary options for the BULSSEYE version will be included shortly. I will not cover here how to physically assemble the PiStorm and the Raspberry Pi A+, although it should be pretty straightforward: in a A500, take out the CPU, put the PiSorm in its place (pins for the RPi on the left side, close to the left end of the computer) and connect the RPi on it (no possibility -well, smol…- of connecting it wrong). Instead, I will try to compile all the info scattered over several places in one single document on how to install the software. The info has been took from respective GitHub places, FAQ at Discord, PiStorm disk, etc., so thanks to the respective authors, i.e., Claude, Bnu, LinuxJedi, ChaosPif, Mcgurk and many others. |

The PiStorm32-Lite is an accelerator for the Commodore Amiga 1200 computer. It has been created by Claude Schwarz. This speeds up the Amiga 1200 by leveraging the Raspberry Pi's computational power. The Raspberry Pi plugs into the PiStorm and emulates the native 680x0 CPU at much higher performance than the original CPU. The Raspberry Pi is running software emulation of the 680x0 CPU using Emu68 developed by Michal Schulz. |

Portable 68k Amigas. At one time or another the majority of Amiga owners have wished that a portable Amiga had been released. Its omission from the Commodore line-up has been puzzling, most of its competitors have developed a portable machine at one stage or another. Even Atari had some success in the laptop market! Unfortunately, the Amigas custom chipset has proven to be a hindrance to those who want a cost-effective 'Classic' Amiga laptop. For the moment, the only viable alternative is to use a Mac or PC laptop and a copy of UAE. |

On this site you can find articles, downloads and more about my favourite computer types - the old homecomputers from Commodore. Mostly about the machines I owned and used back in the (late) 1980's and 1990's: the Commodore 64 and the Commodore Amiga 500. There is also a special section featuring the MOS 6502, the processor architecture which powered the Commodore 64 and quite a few more homecomputers from the early and mid 1980's and a section featuring articles about retro consoles and computers. |

Back in the early 1990's IBM, Motorola, and Apple released the PowerPC CPU. It originally replaced the 68000 in the Apple Macintosh computers, but was also used in systems such as Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Wii-U, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. Here's am FPGA project I'm calling the UnderpoweredPC. This is a minimal implementation of PowerPC in Verilog for an FPGA. It started as a copy of the RISC-V FPGA project, mostly just changing the core to PowerPC. The lcd.asm test program from RISC-V was converted to PowerPC. This program blinks and LED and when a button is pushed generates a Mandelbrot on the small LCD display. |
