Restoring the Commodore CDTV: A Full Teardown & Upgrade
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5660
In the latest episode of Chris Edwards Restoration, Chris takes a deep dive into the Commodore CDTV—more than just an Amiga 500 in a fancy case. This was Commodore’s ambitious attempt at a home theater set-top box, blending multimedia with computing in a way that was ahead of its time. But, as with many vintage machines, keeping it in top shape requires some hands-on work.

  RGB2HDMI for the Amiga 1000
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5708
On my last post “the first perfect computer” I mentioned that I wasn’t done with the A1000. I finally upgraded it with an internal RGB2HDMI adapter. For those unfamiliar with RGB2HDMI, it’s a brilliant and affordable open-source project that converts “digital” RGB video signals from vintage computers into crystal clear HDMI video with very low latency.

RIP, Jack Tramiel, founder of Commodore
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5719
Commodore founder Jack Tramiel, the orchestrator of the first line of affordable personal computers, died this weekend at the age of 83. I don’t know exactly what to think about it, and I’m probably not alone, though it didn’t take long for tributes to pour in.

  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5368
Maker Rob Smith has built a game of Whack-a-Mole with a difference: the "moles" are actually 3.5" floppy disks, appropriately enough under the control of a Commodore Amiga running AMOS.

Sam460LE and A1222 Plus, Welterweight duel - round one
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5558
Today, at the beginning of 2024, we are experiencing an unusual situation in the AmigaNG world. We have two entry-level computers to choose from: in 2023, ACube introduced a new version of Sam460 - Sam460LE, and this year, after a long journey full of obstacles, AAA technology introduced the A1222 Plus.

SAUG - Sydney Amiga Users Group
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5943
The user group was focused on the Classic Commodore Amiga but also newer developments such as the NG (Next Generation) Amigas – which eventually came to be known as the AmigaOne. A lot has changed since then. The Classic Amiga is now well and truly a “retro” machine. The NG Amigas came and went, and are now mainly a niche product. The user group is now focused on 1980-1990 era retro computers in general, such as Commodore, Apple and Atari machines. This also includes the Amiga of course!

  SCANS: Amiga sales brochures
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5595
Two Amiga sales brochures (circa 1985) that came with a near-mint quality Amiga 1000 system I purchased on eBay. I purchased the first Amiga 1000 sold in Virginia back in October 1985. I recall seeing the first, smaller brochure around that time. I have no memory of the second. I've scanned them for the enjoyment of both Amiga fans as well as those that missed that great ride. Enjoy.

  Scrolling on the Amiga
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5336
Depending on what your computer hardware can do, there are a number of different ways to approach displaying a scrolling game. We used to have to evaluate each machine that we were writing for, and then design our games around the advantages. That all comes unstuck, of course, when you're asked to convert a game from one platform to another.

  SDL-1.2 port to AmigaOS/m68k
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5777
This is one of the ports of SDL to the AmigaOS3/68k platform. I cannot comment much on the origins of the code contributions to this port. I've kept the files I got into my hands, along with the various existing Makefiles. The main purpose of this branch (based on SDL 1.2.14, AFAIK) was to provide some bugfixes and performance improvements. Towards the latter point, most of the blitting functions have been rewritten in 68k ASM. Also, some of the routines can switch to AMMX usage (where applicable). This SDL version should work on all Amigas with RTG (Picasso96 or CyberGraphX).
