How a modern AVX instruction shares a similar design with a 1985 blitter chip, by Arnaud Carré. This post is for any enthusiastic SIMD CPU programmer curious about weird AVX instructions. But also for any veteran Amiga programmer who never quite figured out how to calculate that cursed “minterm” blitter value! |

AxRuntime (AxRT) is a tool for application developers who enjoy creating their applications using Amiga APIs. The runtime allows developers to continue developing Amiga applications in unmodified way while at the same time being able to utilize modern development tools available on Linux or Windows like IDEs, debuggers, profilers, etc. |

Target Acquired: Batman Pack! November 1989. I have no idea how many magazine adverts I’d read but I knew all the prices out there, and the packs available and emerging. It had to be the Amiga 500 Batman pack. Batman looked amazing, and it came with the must have “F/A 18 Interceptor”. My first flight sim. New Zealand Story I have to confess, had no draw for me at all. |

I’ve always really enjoyed reading about the technical details involved in other demos, like the write-ups from Leonard, Paradroid, and Slummy. So, I’ve included my own commentary below. |

The second book in my "Amiga Programming" series has just been published. Where my previous book concentrated mainly on using the functionality provided by AmigaOS, this book is about programming the hardware of the Amiga directly. Programming the hardware directly is known as "bare-metal programming", which is a technique employed by a large number of game and demo programmers in order to squeeze the last drop op performance from the system. |

description As a bit of an audiophile, the one thing that has always bothered me a little is the Amiga's perfect channel separation, also sometimes known as "drums on one speaker and the bassline on the other". This can cause the sound to feel unbalanced. {...} So here is my solution, called "BassMX". It takes the audio from one channel, filters it so that only the low frequencies are kept and mixes that with the audio from the other channel. In short, it mixes the bass. And it does that for both channels of course. |

If Forgotten Forever can be described as a Command & Conquer clone, this little beauty can surely be described as a Warcraft-II clone. The Dutch programmer 'Peter De Boer' has been working on this one for quite some time now, and his main goal is to make it the best amiga (ECS/AGA) strategic action game that is available. As you can see from the image to the left Peter de Boer is working on a total and complete conversion of the PC Warcraft-II game. He is converting all the original graphics in an Amiga 32-color version so that ECS-AMiga's wont be left out. And looking at the screenshot of the level-Editor he hasn't done a bad job! |

BBoot is a simple, minimal boot loader to load AmigaOS on QEMU emulated amigaone and pegasos2 machines. It is replacing the second level boot loader (amigaboot.of on pegasos2 and slb_v2 on amigaone) and makes booting AmigaOS on QEMU simpler and without needing a firmware ROM. The original amigaboot.of only works with the non-free pegasos2 SmartFirmware and slb_v2 is tied to U-Boot, whereas BBoot also works with QEMU's built in minimal Virtual Open Firmware (VOF) on pegasos2 or without U-Boot on amigaone. |

The finest games on Commodore's beloved 16-bit system... The Amiga is perhaps the most beloved example of a home computer turned gaming machine and is responsible for bringing many classic series to the world. Sensible Soccer, Lemmings, Worms and Speedball 2 all began life on Commodore's system and helped to cement its place as one of the most exciting gaming platforms of its era. |

{Thread @ reddit with a picture. This is where Hi-Toro's Amiga "Lorraine" was born. Probably the last great creation of Jay Miner and crew. This was their office at 3350 Scott Blvd, Building 7 in Santa Clara, CA almost 40 years ago. They worked here before moving to Los Gatos and later Westchester, PA. Picture taken March 30, 2024.} |

{...} Roosendaal wrote the first source files titled “Blender” on the 2nd of January, 1994, still considered Blender’s official birthday. Originally, Blender was planned as an in-house application for NeoGeo; it grew from a series of pre-existing tools, including a ray-tracer built for the Amiga. This early version of Blender was intended to address a perennial frustration among creatives: when a difficult client requires multiple changes to a project, how do you implement those changes painlessly? |

Today Blender is one of the industry leaders, but it started quite small, three decades ago. If you ever wondered when and where some of the most iconic Blender conventions like "right-click select" or 3D cursor originated, it’s then, in the Amiga era, even before Blender was born. |

If you need a SCSI hard drive for your old computer, there are a lot of great options becoming available for a solid-state substitute. A great one of those options is the BlueSCSI, and I’m not just saying that because I won a free one. It’s because I won a free kit, so I got to put it together myself. |

2 utilities for managing a BlueSCSI V2 or ZuluSCSI in a Commodore Amiga. You can select the device/unit from the properties of the icon. Optionally you can specify these on the command line. CD Changer. The CD Changer allows you to swap between CD ISO images on your SD card on the fly. SD Transfer. The SD Transfer tool allows you to transfer files from the SD card to the Amiga. |
