This is the official home page for Commodore Repair Toolbox (named as CRT hence forward) - a Windows utility tool for repairing vintage computers or peripherals. What is it? With CRT you can easily view schematics, zoom in/out, identify components, see chip pinouts, do manual circuit tracing, study datasheets, view oscilloscope readings, ressources and various other information, helping you diagnosing and repairing old vintage hardware. It is primarily dedicated to Commodore, and have a few built-in datasets for Commodore computers, but it does support any kind of hardware, as you can add your own data - e.g. other computers, radios, DIY electronics or whatever else you can imagine. |

Since the summer disclosure of an attempted management buyout at Commodore International Ltd (CI No 2,459), little has been heard of the Nassau, Bahamas-based parent company or any of its units around the world. Production ceased world-wide last April when the company decided to liquidate its assets, and since then the liquidators have been trying to balance creditor requirements with the search for buyers for the few remaining profitable arms of the company. |

When Commodore released its VIC-20 computer in 1981, one of the peripherals it also released was a matching joystick. Cast in white plastic like the VIC-20, the Commodore VIC-1311 looked like an albino Atari joystick from the same time period. The resemblance was uncanny, and Atari took notice. On October 11, 1982, Atari sued. |

The following is a complete disassembly of the Amiga 1.2 "exec", as found on a kickstart disk for an Amiga 1000. Everything is shown, right down to the padding introduced by the linker, and unused code fragments which probably made it in by accident. |

Hey adventurers, the team thought it would be a nice idea for me to write about my latest episode of Magical Synth Adventure. In the video, I run a guitar through a 1991 Amiga 500+ Computer, though pretty much any Amiga computer can make these sounds, including emulation options. Here, I can add a little more detail to proceedings, plus the hardware & software requirements of this, er, adventure. |

What a difference a few extra MHz, a couple of megs of RAM and hard drive storage make to a standard A500. A whole new world of productivity and ease of use is opened up. So why not take the next step and ditch those boring icons and smooth out the fonts while keeping the OS lean and more usable? Classic Workbench provide packages of very handy prebuilt Workbench installs, however for my requirements, I wanted all the eye candy while keeping the system as fast as possible. So I rolled my own, so to speak... |

There's a lovely device called a pistorm, an adapter board that glues a Raspberry Pi GPIO bus to a Motorola 68000 bus. The intended use case is that you plug it into a 68000 device and then run an emulator that reads instructions from hardware (ROM or RAM) and emulates them. You're still limited by the ~7MHz bus that the hardware is running at, but you can run the instructions as fast as you want. |

January 2, 2000. Within the past few days, ownership of the Amiga rights, trademarks and technology passed from Gateway to Amino Development. People have asked for COSA's opinion on the sale, and for comments how this affects the campaign to open-source the AmigaOS. We believe the sale of Amiga to Amino is a good, positive step forward for the Amiga community, and that the new owners of the Amiga technology rights are the right people to steer the Amiga technology into the new millennium. |

The Amiga platform took the world by storm in the 1980s. Developed by a crack team and brought to market by Commodore, the OCS chipset brought high-quality graphics and sound into the home computer market in a way never seen before. These capabilities cemented the Amiga’s place in the demoscene, and it maintains an active development community to this day. [Hoffman] is one such member of that community, and has shared some of the hacks that go into pulling off a banging soundtrack in a cutting-edge A500 demo. [Hoffman] does a great job of explaining all the tricks involved in creating a compelling 5 minute soundtrack in just 200 KB of RAM. There’s discussion of compression, sample sizes, and the vagaries of the ProTracker format. Smart hacks such as prioritized sample loading and pre-rendering drum loops also help to get the project over the line. |
