How fingerprinting identified a press leak
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4504
Back on the Atari ST and Amiga illegal copies were a big problem. It's impossible to stop, but it was often worth trying to at least make it hard for copies to get cracked and distributed. For some reason, we suspected press versions might be a source of leaks. So for Ambermoon, I implemented a fingerprinting mechanism. And lo and behold, it helped us identify a leak! And now that I've released the source code, I can more easily show how I did it.

How Many Commodore Amiga Were Sold? A Look at the Sales Figures
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4773
One of the most common questions about the Amiga is how many units were sold during its lifetime. According to various sources, the Amiga line sold an estimated 4 to 5 million machines worldwide. However, exact figures are difficult to come by, and there is some disagreement among experts about the actual number of units sold.

  How to build AmigaOS4 cross-compiler (binutils 2.23.2 & gcc 8.2.0) on MSYS2
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5174
The advantage of having up2date crosscompiler for amigaos4 probably have no needs to explain, as everything move forward, and even on amigaos4 we had to move even by small steps. While for having cross-compiler at all there is very good reassons: speed and ability to use all range of helpfull tools such as cmakes, autoconf and scripting languages, but for having updated cross-compiler there is even more reasson: ability to use c++XX till c++17, thread support in c++XX, bugfixes (and new bugs, of course:) ) and all the fancy stuff which come with new gcc.

How to build an Amiga Joystick to USB adapter (DB9 to USB)
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5030
After ordering a custom joystick from Immortal Joysticks, I was in need of a way to use this legendary stick on the A500 mini. Rather than buy a solution, I opted to build one using my horrible soldering skills and drafted in one of my many 3D printers. As Amiga “builds” go, it’s a simple (and rewarding) project, perfect for someone who just likes to tinker.

How to Burn a Kickstart ROM for an Amiga 500
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4631
I found myself needing to update my Amiga 500 to Kickstart 3.1 to support my IDE device, which is a combo IDE / 8MB Fast RAM and uses an SD to 2.5 inch IDE adapter to utilize a 2GB micro SD card {...} As with all things that I try to do, I find bits and pieces of information that I tend to compile into a fully working solution.

How to prepare a CompactFlash card for Amiga PCMCIA using Linux
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4637
An example how to prepare a CompactFlash card for Amiga compactflash.device (cfd) / FAT95 using Linux Fedora Core 33. The idea is to wipe the CompactFlash card, and create one big partition for Amiga PCMCIA slot use. The procedure should basically be the same on all Linux distributions. Make sure your "mkfs" command has "vfat" support (which it probably has).

Amiga lowlevel monitor. Have you ever wanted to get an Action Replay on your A1200, A3000 or A4000 ? If the answer is yes, then you should have a look at HRTmon. HRTmon is a monitor for your Amiga, which doesn't use the libraries. You can invoke the monitor at any point. Even if a game or a demo switched off the interrupts. Once in HRTmon you can watch all the memory, disassemble, edit, save, etc... and continue, as if nothing happend. You don't have to care about any picture address. ALL the CHIP-memory can be edited transparently.br>

My thanks to Duncan M. of The Other Group of Amigoids and his expertise in putting the machine together; I would have done a hack job on it if I were to do it! different as chalk and cheese!

Hyperion Confirms Leak Of AmigaOS 3.1 Source Code
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4791
Hyperion Entertainment confirmed that at the end of December the source code to AmigaOS 3.1 was leaked, which is now causing problems for the company continuing to develop this proprietary operating system. Hyperion owns an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to AmigaOS 3.1 granted by Amiga Inc following Hyperion's development of AmigaOS 4, which is derived from the v3.1 code-base. Because of this deal with Amiga Inc, the source leak of AmigaOS 3.1 is causing big problems for the company even though AmigaOS 3.1 is more than two decades old.

  In the beginning was CAOS
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4707
The very first issue of Amiga Transactor - spun off from the original Transactor - featured an article by Andy Finkel, then the Software Manager at Commodore-Amiga. Fortunately, the article survived, although Amiga Transactor didn't. It's interesting to contrast the state of AmigaDOS then and now, especially in comparison to the CAOS specs. Thanks to Andy - and an intrepid Amiga owner who typed in the text and sent it to Andy - ViewPort is able to reprint that article in its entirety. So set the WayBack machine for 1988, and read on...

So, AmigaOS 3.2 is available, at the moment as a physical installation from selected resellers. No matter your opinion of Hyperion, I hope people are at least in favour of supporting the resellers who keep the Amiga dream alive by purchasing the CD (yes, CD!) and any rom chips needed.
