  Licensing is a complicated business!
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4692
We spoke with Simon Turner at Plaion about their range of replica consoles, such as TheA500. Plaion is the distributor of modern replica consoles such as TheC64, ThA500 and the forthcoming The Spectrum. We had the opportunity to ask Simon Turner, who is UK marketing director and responsible for global marketing of the retro division at Plaion a few questions. We discussed the inspiration behind these consoles, about getting the rights to old games, and their plans for any future releases.

Overview. Lite XL is derived from lite. It is a lightweight text editor written mostly in Lua — it aims to provide something practical, pretty, small and fast easy to modify and extend, or to use without doing either. The aim of Lite XL compared to lite is to be more user friendly, improve the quality of font rendering, and reduce CPU usage. Customization. Additional functionality can be added through plugins which are available in the plugins repository or in the Lite XL plugins repository. Additional color themes can be found in the colors repository. These color themes are bundled with all releases of Lite XL by default.

Long-lost Andy Warhol portrait of Blondie singer Debbie Harry discovered in Delaware, going up for sale for potential millions
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4799
A long-lost Andy Warhol portrait of Blondie singer Debbie Harry from 1985 that has been hanging in rural Delaware, is going up for sale, we hear, for potential millions. The Harry portrait — and a signed disk of 10 Warhol images — was created on an early home computer when Warhol was an ambassador for a now-defunct tech outfit. Nearly 40 years ago, the famous artist signed on as a brand ambassador to early tech company Commodore and created a portrait of the “Heart of Glass” singer on an Amiga 1000 home computer as part of a promo at Lincoln Center.

  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5048
This week it was announced that the AmigaOne A1222 system is now available for people to order! We have a new AmigaOS 4 system in 2024! For me, it's release completes a long Hyperion Entertainment official beta testing program I was part of for this new system. I have been under NDA during this process and unable to talk about it, but with the A1222 system now released and final form of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition now set in stone, I confirmed that I can talk about the new system now! So let's dive in!

Low Profile RGBtoHDMI for Amiga 500
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4847
This board gives a pixel-perfect HDMI output from your Amiga 500 using a Raspberry Pi Zero (not included). It is a brand new version of the CPLD RGBtoHDMI for Amiga 500/500+. The Raspberry Pi Zero / Zero 2W (not included) goes through the board to make it extra low profile, it easily fits under an accelerator that is on a relocator, such as a TF536. If you have a revision 3 Amiga 500 motherboard, you will need the CSYNC clip option. All other motherboard revisions will not need this.

{ESCOM press release from the Chairman of the Executive Board, Escom AG from 30 May 1995} Ladies and gentlemen, Since we won the auction for the intellectual property of Commodore and Amiga, the ESCOM AG is flooded with congratulation messages. Amiga clubs and Amiga users write to ask us to revive and continue to develop and improve the Amiga. Many of them actually sent us their wishes for future hardware architectures and operating systems improvements. However, it is still unclear for many users how a PC manufacturer and retailer will use the Amiga technology. Here is our answer:

Microsoft Sunsets Amiga’s Killer App: Internet Explorer
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4719
It’s been nearly 27 years but, as life teaches us, all good things must come to an end. On June 15th, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer on all desktop systems, including its launch platform, the Commodore Amiga. Microsoft tweeted the news yesterday from its official @MicrosoftEdge account. In the poignant tweet, the Redmond software giant bade farewell to its venerable web browser, stating with some sadness, “Now, it’s time to surf the big web in the sky,” while marking the woeful moment with an animated image of IE’s orbited-“e” logo, centered on a glowing blue screen which fades out to darkness on an Amiga 1000 computer.

Minimig compatible Toccata 16-bit sound card
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 5032
This is a module emulating the playback functionality of the Toccata sound card for the Commodore Amiga. Toccata sound card. The module is written in SystemVerilog, and is intended to be used in the Minimig core. It was not possible for me to get an actual Toccata sound card, or find the documentation for the sound card. This module is implemented by reverse engineering the Toccata sound card emulation of UAE, and looking at the OpenBSD driver. The Toccata sound card uses the AD1848 audio chip, the AD1848 data sheet was used to implement the indirectly exposed registers to the zorro II bus.

MMULib OpenPCI for all bridge boards
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4632
  In short: "PCI is for PC what Zorro is for Amiga". {...} It is therefore not unsurprising that several vendors started to offer through which an Amiga system can be equipped with a PCI bus, and through which components designed for PC systems can be plugged into an Amiga. {..} The version in this archive is a complete re-implementation of openpci and based on a different design philosophy: Instead of depending on proprietary drivers, it interfaces directly to third party hardware, entirely replacing vendor specific drivers. At the same time, it provides a super-set of services the original openpci.library offered, addressing some of its shortcomings. {Written by Thomas 'Thor' Richter}

Modifying a PC floppy drive to work inside an Amiga 500
  Author:   Verified: Nov 30, -0001   id: 4959
My Amiga 500 Plus no longer has an internal floppy drive. It was given away months ago to help another Amiga user. I needed to replace it, and I realised that I’m completely out of Amiga floppy drives. So, I decided to see if I could convert a PC one to fit. Here is the story.
