So, what is it? Well, according to lore, the Amiga engineers at Commodore were very interested in the Unix operating system(s), and wanted to bring it to their own machines. Unfortunately, the Motorola 68000 CPU in the Amiga was deemed insufficient, as it lacked the sophisticated MMU required. This, in turn, led to the creation by Commodore of the Amiga A2630 CPU accelerator which contained a 68030 processor and mmu. And this, in turn, led to the creation of the Amiga 2500UX, which is basically an Amiga 2000 with the aforementioned A2630 card and an A2091 SCSI hard drive card with a hard drive containing AMIX. |

I was at the Norwich Games Festival last week, along with six of Amigas and a BBC Master 128 with Valiant Turtle. Whilst I was there, OMTG Retro handed me his Amiga 1000 and asked if I could fix it for him, it wouldn’t boot. So, I had a look into it. |

This project is a re-implementation of the Amiga 1200 board started from the schematics. I made some changes and enhancements to the original schematics. |

After having Amiga OS 3.1 on the 1200 for a while, I'd decided it was time to upgrade to Amiga OS 3.9. I had instantly realised there was a problem with this; the installation media is on a CD! There was no way I was going digging for an accelerator card with SCSI, or a PCMCIA CD Drive, so I resorted to emulation to get the OS installed. Therefore, henceforth are the steps required to build a compactflash card with a real OS for use on real hardware. Godspeed. |

The Commodore Amiga produces RGB video output @ 15khz. It has the ability to run in a higher resolution mode which causes a crazy amount of flicker when the screen refreshes... I used one of the scalers that are popular with us arcade people to scale the video to drive a VGA monitor. This is pretty well known, really the most limiting part is getting hold of DB-23 connectors.... I was more than impressed by the output from the scaler board, it looks really good. |

The Amiga 2000 EATX is a project by Jason Beer and is an open source Amiga 2000 PCB in the EATX form factor. EATX is an ATX variant that defines larger PCBs, measuring 12 x 13 inches (305 × 330 mm). These are referred to as Extended ATX, or, EATX. The length of Zorro II cards and the abundance of components on the Amiga 2000 makes EATX the best choice for this project. |

{Description translated from DE} The Amiga 2K front panel expands the Amiga 2000 with a panel for the 5.25" slot. This allows an external keyboard switch from the 7-bit A234 to be used internally and fully operated from the outside by plugging a USB keyboard / USB wireless dongle into the top left slot... The USB slot in the middle is used to externally access the RaspberryPi USB port that sits on the PiStorm 2K , so you can easily make files accessible to the Amiga OS... The button in the middle is connected to an HDMI switch and lights up as soon as the HDMI output of the PiStorm is switched to the RGBtoHDMI output. This allows an HDMI monitor to be used comfortably both for the classic HIRES resolution of games but also via the PiStorm you can work with the Workbench up to 4K. The lower slot leads the RaspberryPi's micro SD card to the outside using an extension cable. The space on the left side of the panel is for the later installation of a GoTek Systems USB Drive |

Thanks to Amiga Zone for posting all of their press releases on the Amiga Format CD. These tech specs were posted by Commodore some time in 1992. They have been altered slightly to feature other models of the A4000. |

The Amiga series represented Commodore’s attempts to garner the home market, and the Amiga 500 was their budget-friendly model. Although they marketed the A500 as a multi-purpose device, most users of the time remember playing games on the system. |

Very easy to build, small, internal, speed is 400-720kb/sec, able to mount OFS/FFS/fat95/...any? partitions. No autoboot, but it is working on a stock A500 (1.3 kickrom without fastram)! |

This Arduino sketch converts an original Amiga 500 keyboard into a USB HID, allowing it to function as a modern USB keyboard. Using an Arduino Leonardo, which supports native USB communication, the sketch reads the Amiga 500 keyboard signals and translates them into USB keystrokes, preserving the vintage feel with modern compatibility. |

I saw this RGBS/VGA to YPbPr adapter on ebay for around $30 and thought I'd try it out. I already had a buffered VGA adapter (bought off ebay also) so I hooked it up with Amiga --> buffered VGA --> RGBS to YPrPb --> component output --> TV. At first, I thought it didn't work because the first TV I tried didn't support the component signals. I got a black screen. But I kept trying different TVs and about half of them would work, and when it worked, the output was absolutely beautiful. The TV deinterlacing was often perfect so you could use interlaced modes without any jitter. |

After building an internal IDE port for the Amiga 500, it was time to try an external port that connects to the expansion slot. This happened to be another lesson in taking-your-time-and-doing-proper-research. |

Whilst looking for side-car Amiga A590 Hard drives for the Amiga 500, I found this deisgn at PCBWay of an internal IDE interface. The design seemed pretty straight-forward, but it did have its caveats. The main one was that this device does not Auto-Configure and therefore needs a boot floppy to use it. |
